Yes! It’s time for the super accurate totally made-up predictions (SATMUP) EF1 edition
Or, a cynical cash in to earn a few more credits to pay the bills
The winner
1 PSG
There can only be one predicted winner, it has to be PSG. They have the strongest side, plenty of cash, an experienced boss in charge. Only lady luck, or the chase for abs over victories, might stand in their way. Some would argue they should have won it last season but didn’t. However, they did come back well after a very poor start to the season. Important players? Hard to pick an outstanding individual, but I’ll go Ramos.
The challengers
2 Real Madrid
3 Atlético Madrid
Next up it will likely be the Madrid pair, Real have a new manager, and have masses of quality on the pitch. However, I don’t think it will be their year this time around. Star man? Rodrygo will no doubt lead the line with style.
Atlético are another side with bags of quality, and a very experienced manager. They could even push PSG hard this season, but the comparative lack of strength up front might prove to be the difference in the end. Star man? maybe Martinez, who could be a brick wall, none shall pass.
The Champions Leaguers
4 Bayern Munich
5 Juventus
6 Fiorentina
7 Inter Milan
8 AC Milan
There may well not be a lot between these sides come the end of the season. All might have a good run at some point and push the top 3, but I think all will inevitably come up short.
Munich has a new manager, and a fresh young squad. There are lots of good seconds, but are there enough main skills to make a top of the table challenge yet? Probably not. Ant will no doubt push them hard though. Star man? Sesko to provide the goals.
Next up, Juventus, I did have them lower before Tony was announced boss, but I’m sure he will work some transfer magic. Like Munich, good and young, but do they lack the star men to make a difference? Probably. Star man? Felix, despite being a wuss in real life.
Soo.. he goes for his own club in 6th? Optimistic perhaps, but the end of last season form has given me hope that we might go the step further and make the top eight this season. There have been squad improvements. Star man? Berardi hopefully.
Inter Milan are a club capable of finishing higher, with lots of good multi skills, but haven’t changed a lot from last season. John will no doubt have them will drilled. Star man? Kimmich to lead the defence impressively.
AC also have a great side, and experienced manager. Perhaps just missing a couple of players to fully challenge at the top however. Star man? Harvey Barnes to have a great season.
The ‘not quite’ teams
9 Roma
10 Rangers
11 Barcelona
12 Celtic
Hamza got a lot of flack for his first season at Roma, but he certainly had a tough act to follow. His side certainly have top 8 quality, but perhaps more variation in tactics is needed to make a step up from last season. Star man? Raspadori to be top scorer perhaps.
Rangers have a surprisingly good side these days, and could even push higher than predicted, only perhaps a relative lack of secondary skills might prevent them from finishing higher. Best side in Scotland this year? Star man? Hlozek to lead the line well.
Mati has been reasonably quiet in terms of transfers in recent seasons, and unfortunately that has meant his sides have been slipping back. Whilst he may blame previous managers the side still has some decent quality to work with. Star man? Nkunku to boss the midfield stats.
I’m not sure who is managing Celtic these days, but they certainly have some decent players for a mid-table finish. Another side that Sam built up. Star man? Madueke the main man up front.
The best of the rest
The teams that could surprise and finish higher up the table, Sevilla aren’t that much of a surprise I guess, given they had a great season last time around, but Lisbon and Sociedad both have improved well, and could have a very good seasons this time around.
13 Lisbon
14 Sociedad
15 Sevilla
Apologies to the rest, but anything is possible with a few deals, and some good results!
Good luck all.
