  • Outten Not interested in Barcelona job

MANCHESTER UNITED MANAGER HAS CONFIRMED HE IS NOT INTERESTED IN THE VACANT BARCELONA JOB, DESPITE BEING IN TEH DUGOUT FOR MONDAYS EL CLASSICO. OUTTEN WAS DRAFTED IN AS AN EMERGENCY AFTER THE DEPARTURE OF LEGENDARY MANAGER GREAME EDWARDS WAS ANNOUNCED ON SATURDAY.

With Outten in permanent control of Manchester United and overseeing duties for Shakhtar Donetsk, both clubs are doing well retrospectively so far in their campaigns, but there have been murmurings surrounding Outtens long term future having been at United for 8 years, some 16 seasons, believing he ti be closing on full time at United whilst unknown about the future of Shakhtar come next season.

It's been touted that filling in after Graeme, is some big shoes to fill, not just as a manager on the pitch but an exemplary character in the community and someone who certainly leaves a big hole around. So far, 2 applicants have come forward for the job and no doubt a few others will throw their usual names in the hat too. But, it isn't something Outten will look at right now as the Mancunian has no interest in the role.

"First of all, I want to say best wishes to Graeme and thank you for everything over the years we've spoken. Hopefully, you will come back soon as the game needs people of his stature. He will be missed. Anyone who steps into the role will be following a big character and it wont be an easy job to follow so whoever comes in has to have the right stuff simply put.

"I got asked to help on Monday and I feel it's the least I could do, but long term, no I don't think I'll be applying. I have too much to finish with United and I'm having a blast with Shakhtar, so Barcelona wont be receiving my application. I respect everything about the club for sure, but once again, I wont be going to Spain anytime soon, and after Monday I wish them and their new manager all the best for the future."

Outten was asked who he thought would be ideal for the role, to which he replied "I think there's 2, maybe 3 managers who deserve the step an opportunity. There has been some surprise packages this season in certain areas and yeah some surprise characters could get their opportunity if they came forward. I wont say who, but it doesn't need to be one of the boys when there are talented people doing great things, going under the radar.
