The man, the myth, the legend, Q_Timber, the Feyenoord attacking midfielder who is known for his play-making prowess than finisher was somewhat out of character this afternoon, scoring on three occasions. His first in the 25th negating the home-sides lead, then again in the 38th to give the visitors the go ahead and what was to be the winning goal. The halfback added another in the 82nd minute completing his first hat-trick of the season. P_Goncalves’ goal in the 56th, the third for the visitorsall but secured a victory for the tub boys.
When asked about his hat-trick, Q_Timber replied that “it is a bittersweet moment, yes its something all footballers dream of, getting three for a hat-trick. But it would have been great to be able to celebrate my three goals amongst the Feyenoord fans”. Feyenoords next match is a midweek affair against Rennes at De Kuip.
Fantastic result that blows the title and promotion race wide open. It was second versus first with much to play for.
It started badly with the early goal to Sevilla, but we stuck to the match plan rather than make knee-jerk changes, and fortunately things quickly changed around. Young striker Ekitike scored his first goal from open play, and put in a man of the match performance to hopefully show he is settling in. An own goal, and then one from Camus before half-time put the home side in a commanding position. It looked like things might go wrong when Helik got his second yellow card before the hour was up, but rather than fold the team pulled together, and even put a late gloss on the score with Suso netting.
Based on the stats, it was much closer than the scoreline suggests, but clinical finishing did the job.
So Fiorentina top, but for how long? There are now 4 clubs all very close to each other and anything can happen.
Positives - The win! MoM from Ekitike, Wijndal put in a captain's performance. Top of the table!
Negatives - The sending off and suspension of Helik, meaning two defenders out for the next game.
A quick fire hatrick won us this one. We played around with the tactics a bit and did concede more chances due to Schalkes attacking approach and our resilient goalkeeper kept the score down. We didn't know what to expect from the Germans who are rooted to the foot of the table, which is a surprise when you look at their squad. We probably got the changes right when we did to make the difference that it did, but yea there was some fortune in this one.
We stay 11th for now, it's really tight outside the play offs and the other week I targeted 10 points from the remaining games, we have 4 so far, we're obviously aiming for as many as we can though. It's been a phenomenal season thus far but lets finish with a high!
