RC Lens 3-0 SHAKHTAR DONETSK

Well beaten, well battered! Simply put we got countered all game and roll out deserved losers. Lens, are a team I feel we can normally beat but we came into this one far too ambitious away from home which was probably naive. We'll go again on Friday, 9 games left and if we can get 10 points from those I'll be very happy.

Well, we got Wells' minutes sorted so just one player to box off there, so that is the positive we'll take from this one. Just one player to go now!

Benfica 0 - 0 Feyenoord

Much to the surprise of many, Feyenoord and Benfica played to a nil-nil draw earlier today at the Estadio da Luz. Earlier in the week Feyenoord gaffer Buck spoke highly of Mondays adversaries, mentioning serious concern for the upcoming match against a much improved Benfica.

Pundits were up in arms at Buck’s decision to sit his two starting forwards O_Idrissi and P_Goncalves, both of whom are having a stellar season. The option to sit the two forwards also provoked a backlash from many of the fans present at the match, chanting “O_IDRISSI 21-21”. When asked about his selection, Buck replied that “sometimes we need to look at the bigger picture, yes O_Idrissi is in a scoring race, but the club comes first”.

In the post match interview, Buck mentioned that they opted for caution, instead of their usual style of play, further stating that a conservative approach to the match was their best plan of action.

Fiorentina 3-0 Salzburg

Pleasing performance and result from the purple ones.
The new lads Araujo and Suso fitted in well, with Suso getting the early goal to settle the nerves and the defence keeping a rare clean sheet. Nunez put in another man of the match performance and his goal means he's gaining on the division's leading scorers.
The stats were nicely in the home side's favour, though it needed a late penalty to put the gloss on the performance, and a first goal for Ekitike. Breathing down Sevilla's neck now, following their drop off in form, though still plenty of games to go.

Positives - Good performance and result, no suspensions for Europe, another squaddie made his minutes, clean sheet, teams around us in the division didn't win.
