Not a great game really as we faced a D from the off so it was never going to see a lot of action but we won by just the one goal which was the main aim. A couple of players rested once again which saw us play lesser rated squaddies and we managed to come back with all three points to get back to winning ways after our last game which ended in defeat. Chiesa getting back in on the goals which will take him nearer to his skill increase. Some other results went our way for a change meaning we close the gap a little bit on the sides around us.
A game that was nip and tuck to start with and that seemed to play into the hands of the home side as they found themselves two goals to the good by the half hour mark. At that point Bristol City decided to try and hold on to what they had got but this move by the home team only prompted us to push on. We left it late but ended up with a point from the game.
We have up the lead early on which has become a bit of a bad habit of ours recently. But the response was magnificent. 6 goals fired in response is definitely adequate!
We fully deserve our win and played very very well. This result coupled with a few other results sees us move level with Man City on points which is incredible, I thought we were out of it a few games back but we are still in there fighting.
losing Caicedo for the next two games is damaging though, very difficult one to adapt as he’s pretty important for the way we play. Let’s see what we can do.
Season 2 Premier League Champions - Leeds
Season 2 Conference Champions - Porto
Before the game I felt we'd struggle for goals and it probably would've been a need to score first. We didn't but we reacted instantly to Evertons attempts to shut up shop. We did have more of the play, but with the limited firepower and options available due to missing players, again, we didn't manage to break through. Rookie mistake though not getting Kebano on late on, but I don't think today it would've made much difference.
We could argue we deserved to win, but when we lacked quality where it mattered there's not too much we can moan about.
We rested a few lads ahead of a crucial cup game on Tuesday evening. Having said that, we still had enough quality to cause Liverpool some problems and fortunately for us we did get the opener through Ryan Kent. We held onto the lead for the rest of the game and this result puts us in 12th, I don't expect us to finish up there with a lot of tough away games in particular to come, but it is nice to get a result over a fellow mid table side which gives us a chance of finishing in a top 16 position.
