A TRANSFER COUP for Barnsley, as they sign superstar Inaki Williams to bolster their attacking outlet as they look to bounce back from only one win in the previous six league games.
Mike Bridge at Stockport County has been trying to 'get rid' of Williams for a while, and Harris pounced by offering supersub Haraslin (4 goals off the bench, in 20 odd shots) and already on loan defensive midfielder Bellegarde. The club then coughed up 13 million to secure the services of the talented attacker. Fans are thrilled, and are excited to see how Harris will fit Dia, Mitoma and Williams into the line up as the season approaches the second half.
"We weren't in the market at all, to be honest, we are quite settled in our side, and if anything would've looked for a younger defender as moving forward this is an ageing part of our side! But, once we made contact with Stockport, and negotiations moved quickly, we knew we were keen on bringing Williams in, despite him almost being 30 in FFO years. This further signals our intent to push into the top half of the table. Which would be an outstanding achievement, and quite frankly a player of William's ability is too good for the championship - so we need to make sure we give him another season of the Premier League." Harris declared at a press conference hours after the signing was announced.
It does give Harris many selection headaches as he is quite often a fan of one up front, and now he has three very interesting options up front. Will this signing make a difference to their season? Will the lack of depth in other areas be an issue? Will the captaincy change soon? Could Williams be a captain? Time will tell. Time will tell.
