Two weeks ago we sold Reguilon to Barcelona for £80mil, having picked him up in the end of season for £40mil.
Despite banking a nice £40mil profit, we received hate Mail at the Frankfurt head office:
”Hopton is a clueless manager”
”He’s sold his best player for peanuts, he’s not fit to manage”
”Hopton has always been incompetent”
“This is Wolfsburg all over again”
Luckily though, I have grown thick skin and have a long term plan in place at Frankfurt. One part is the academy which is ticking along and the second part is utilising auctions.
In the latest auction we have picked up 20 year old Cherki for what I consider a bargain £69million, making the sale of Reguilon look genius.
We have already received one offer on Cherki in the 3 figures but have no plans to move him on, until at least the end of the season.
Cherki will likely be used to help fund further stadium improvements and academy upgrades as we keep this slow juggernaut rolling on.
