  • Banks looks forwards to ‘spot auctions’

    With this season reintroducing spot auctions to the world of football, many have questions about the format and it’s rules.

    From the frequency, to when they’ll actually happen, to the players themselves. How many will be available and at what quality & indeed cost?

    The FFO FA released a statement last week stating that they’d take place between the start of August and the end of September with just the one rule as of now, 1 player per club.

    The usual suspects were out asking every question imaginable, trying to gain yet another unfair advantage but the FA have kept quiet on any more details.

    One club who are said to be looking ahead to these auctions is EFL 1 team Juventus who already sat on over £100,000,000 before the sale of 19 year old defensive midfielder S_Vos last week for FC Barcelona for £115,000,000 and after further sales the club are believed to have a whopping £260,000,000 to spend at the auctions.

    While it’s unknown if any of the players will be worth this amount, manager Andy Banks has steered the club into a strong position in order to stump up the cash to sign a player if they want to. Here’s what he had to say on the club’s financial riches and the future auction players;

    “We took a chance in the pre season when we sold J_Timber to Barcelona and replaced him with a 36 year old but another risk that paid off was the one to sign S_Vos from the previous auction which was meant to be a long term project but quickly turned into a huge profit which has really bolstered our bank balance for the future seasons but we won’t fritter this money away.

    Some will be ear marked for the continuous stadium development happening at the club and some will be used towards our youth academy that we’ve recently set up at the club but the rest can and will be used to improve the starting 11 at Juventus.

    It’s unclear yet what type of player we would be interested in as we’re currently very satisfied with the quality and balance of the team so I guess a player who could come in and make us a better team at any position would be our priority but we don’t know yet if that’s what will happen as we don’t know the identity of the players involved in the spot auctions.

    It may turn out that we don’t sign a player as we don’t find the right one for us, if we don’t find the player that fits in with what we do here at this club then we will sit on our money and go again next time. We worked very hard to raise this level of funds and we can’t afford to spend it willy nilly making poor choices at the football club.

    We’re looking forwards to the auctions, with no idea what to expect but I’m sure it’ll prove to be an exciting time will for all involved.”
