Transfer news time from the Stadio Artemio Franchi
Where to start? It's been a very busy pre-season for Fiorentina, as they prepare for life in the top division.
Changes were certainly needed from a side set up to be as young as possible but competitive in the second tier.
Let's start at the back - much heralded teenage keeper Owusu was advertised for older better, as a 23 wasn't going to cut it in the top tier without being made captain. He attracted a fair bit of interest, but in the end it was a nice easy deal with Darren at Arsenal who sent his young 24 over with a small amount of cash - welcome Mamardvili! It has also been announced he will be made captain, making him a 25 rater for the coming season.

Moving on to defence, there are still some familiar faces left, in terms of Wijndal, and Relik, but they have been joined by a world class leader in the form of Eder Militao! Eder is one of the top tackling defenders in the game, and joins from Aston Villa in a multi player swap. Hopefully he has the quality needed to stop some of the best strikers in the game coming at him.

Also incoming is Soyuncu, an old fashioned centre back, he was an early signing from Stockport in a deal which saw three younger players leave for much better older ones and cash.

A cash signing from Liverpool joins them at the back, who provides experience at the top level, incoming for 35m I think it was.

Providing cover is the tea ladys son, who unexpectedly joined in training one day, and showed some promise

Moving onto midfield, it is believed Suso will remain at the club, and continue to play in an attacking midfield role. Joining him so far are a couple of experienced pros. Coutinho joined from Lisbon in a 40m plus squaddie deal, and whilst he is getting on, provides much needed quality.

At the moment, Gundogan is on the books, following a move from Villa, but it is believed he will be leaving before the season starts, either heading off for 40m, or in a part exchange. Negotiations are ongoing.

Also technically a midfielder is loan signing Lepenant, who comes in from PSG. It is believed however that he will play mainly in defence.

Moving on to the forward line, top scorer Darwin Nunez remains at the club, being a favourite of manager Kirby, but joining him next season is none other than Luis Diaz! His former Liverpool team mate is one of the top 5 strikers in the game, and seen as a massive boost to the side, hopefully the South American pair can team up well.

That however, is unlikely to be it, as two negotiations are being conducted as we speak. One may bring in another classy midfielder, and the other might change things around at the back, so stay tuned for more transfer news before the season starts!
