Atletico Madrid have made an early season move to strengthen their side with the capture of Southampton's Samuel Chukwueze. The move will see Mouassa Diaby join Southampton. This deal sees the end of the trio of players Marsh inherited - Frimpong, Diaby and Sessegnon who he has built a team around. Frimpong and Sessegnon remain and are the only players left in a fast moving squad that has gradually shown Inter style improvements.
A huge cheque has been sent Southamptons way - perhaps more than Marsh would have hoped but has he explained it is not an easy job improving the side. Marsh spoke "Adding that extra quality, this time shooting is hard. The better players are generally at the better clubs with better managers so nothing comes cheap unless you pick up an auction signing at a good price. With cash in the game low its likely miles more than value but we are hoping that an additional few goals may be the difference between a few league places and perhaps going deeper in a cup. Time will tell whether it is good money invested but like many decisions in football, you are gambling on the benefits".
