With FFO season 3 approaching Atletico Madrid have bolstered their attacking threat with the signing of Randol Kolo Muani. The French international comes in on the day that Boniface departs the club.
Atletico had to date not made too many moves in the transfer market with Skriniar the main signing to improve the starting eleven. Muani however, will be the signing the fans are looking forwards to with his pace and trickery. At 6ft 2 this rangy specimen will be hoping to fire the goals on all fronts for Atletico next season.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "The auction is always a challenge trying to work out where the possible bargain may exist. We appear to have hit the nail on the head being the only side to target a 22-rated player. If only we had truly believed in our home work we could have saved 55m and got a tremendous bargain. As it is we are still very pleased with the value we have in this player. The transfer king paid an extra £253m for 589 shooting abs and 2,554 passing abs for a player is 1 year older and cannot press that well. Whilst we would always appreciate that buying the best costs top dollar in the market we sit in we are pleased we got some really good value in the striking section along with Inter Milan and Bayern. We anticipated a heavier movement towards defenders although having said that there were bargain to be had in that section also".
What next for Atletico? Will they go big on the look for another defender or will they stick with trusty german Hubner to fill in when necessary? The Spanish side have never had as much cash as the club tries to keep developing forwards. Squad depth is not as classy as it could be but with more minutes required across the players this season perhaps Atletico will gamble on going lighter.
