  • Liverpool remain surprisingly inactive

With a struggling team on the park and a manager in the dugout who historically has been known to like a transfer or two it seems surprising to see Liverpool continue to be so inactive in the transfer market since the season started.

However other than a recent defender swap with Juventus - which actually saw the club downgrade at the position with Araujo replacing the more talented Tomori - next to nothing has happened. The money from the deal with Juventus boosted the club's coffers to the tune of £30m but other than a failed mid season auction bid on Alexis MacAllister it appears the management are in no rush to spend any of the money raised. Team boss Graeme Edwards had this to say this evening

"I do like wheeling and dealing but it's definitely becoming more and more difficult. There are fewer managers that are active and those that are don't always have players that either we want or in other cases that we would have any chance of being able to strike a deal for. We are certainly always on the look out and open to trying to bring the right type of player in but it just isn't something that we are desperate to do for the sake of it. I've probably been guilty in the past of doing far too many deals with not a great deal of benefit so I'm probably at the stage of feeling like I would rather be a little bit more patient than before. You never say never but there's nothing imminent or on the horizon and we are quite happy to soldier on at the present time with the current squad we have at our disposal"
