MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE REVEALED THE CLUB HAD AGREED A DEAL TO SEE RAHEEM STERLING LEAVE THE CLUB WITHIN WEEKS OF JOINING, ONLY FOR THE DEAL NOW TO BE OFF. THE CLASSIC DOMINO AFFECT OF ONE DEAL BEING WEIGHTED TO FUND ANOTHER THE REASON AS JUVENTUS HAVE PARTED WAYS WITH MANAGER ANDREW BANKS.
It appears Juventus held the cards by funding Chelsea with a potential transfer which would've then been used to to allow Manchester United to sell their highly talented player. But recent events have completely turned around. Banks has now departed Italy and as a result has left this deal a no goer, whilst potentially scuppering further business from red side of Manchester. Outten commented on the matter and admitted it's made him question the way things are.
"We're left in a bit of a rut now. We planned on allowing Raheem to leave amongst other business with the long term fiscal view of the club being accounted for. But because of one reason or another, we're back to square one. This is not the first time we've been in this predicament, and even then, through absolutely no fault of our own.
"The politics and antics of the clubs involved has had a big knock on effect for us. We'll go back to an alternate contingency, which wasn't ideal but we could plan around it. We will now as a club think twice on doing certain bits of business, and potentially who with."
The deal does leave United back with 2 extra players before the season starts and an expensive squad, there is talk that 2 players may have their contracts terminated to bankroll the club for the next season or two. Outten admitted there is that possibility with a ruthless edge being administered.
"We know the situation we are in and frankly we will act accordingly. We have a couple of weeks before we decide but we can't hide the fact that we might have to terminate some contracts. We agreed deals in good faith. I will admit we did have an offer come to us in light of the events which expected us to drop the prices which we will not do. We would rather cut off our nose to spite our own faces than do any favours for anyone. We will see what happens over the coming weeks but as it stans we start the season with Raheem still part of the squad and will play in the opening games."
United start their campaign with two tricky ties. The Manchester derby kicks off their campaign at the Etihad, whilst a trip to Elland road follows in round two, with a freshly revamped Leeds United in the waiting.
