  • Gunners Wont Be Calling Academy Players Up

    Arsenal have today confirmed that the academy will not be a target for player promotion this season after earlier confirming that the club had agreed deals that will se them make the twenty three player limit for next season, but did state that they may be looking to add to the academy roster rather than pull players from it.

    In a pre season where it looks set to be busy for a lot of clubs, its widely expected that the academies across the game will be a target for ' free ' players to fill the voids left by players who failed to make minutes or retired but the Arsenal boss has confirmed that he has no intention of calling anyone up to the senior squad just yet and that the jury is still out for them on the whole academy set up. Speaking to the media earlier today, the Arsenal boss had this to say ;

    " At one point we did think that we would be looking to call up one or two to make the numbers but after the transfers we have done we wont be doing that now. We have had a few messages about a loan out for one or two but we have opted to keep what we have and just stick but will be looking to add one or two to the ranks in the next few weeks.

    Its no secret that we have been on the fence regarding the academy as right now its the unknown as to how well some will do but when you look at the way the game is going and the fees some under twenty players are going and who's buying them, experienced managers, you can see how the game is going and what direction its heading in ".
