As happy to finally have a Manager, the Tifosi might be surprised to see Sorensen taking the lead. Although the Belgian is a seen as dynamic and innovative coach known for his tactical prowess, and ability to get the best out of his squads, his lack of top level experience might concern the core of tifosi. However, the offensive style prone by the Belgian, leading to one domestic cup with Standard de Liège, should be convince the fans rather quickly. The challenge now falls to Sorensen to build upon that legacy and take the club to new heights.

A Fresh Continuity for La Dea
In his first official press conference, Sorensen expressed his excitement about joining Atalanta and his vision for the team’s future.
"I am honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading Atalanta, a club with such a rich history and passionate fanbase. My goal is to continue the club’s tradition of attacking, fast-paced football while integrating some fresh ideas that can help us compete at the highest level," Sorensen said.

    Coaching Experience and Philosophy
Sorensen's journey is summarized in 3 words. Standard de Liège. Indeed the young coach started his career with the SL16, the Standard’s youth team playing in Proximus League (Belgian second level), he quickly moved up the ranks until he joins the A-Team in 2022, earning a reputation for his offensive football by the way. After the last financial setback known by Standard, Sorensen decided to try a new experience approved and took the opportunity to coach Atalanta as his philosophy of football closely aligns with Atalanta’s identity, making him a natural fit for the club.
"I’ve directly fallen in love with the club and the city of Bergamo. It felt like home. I pretty sure that we will be in Harmony really quick” Sorensen said.

    What’s Next for Atalanta?
With Sorensen at the helm, Atalanta fans will be eager to see how the team evolves under his leadership. His first major test will come in the form of the Darren Bradwell Cup Quarter finals (final score 0-0 against Sevilla).
"This deadline is fast approaching. We have a good idea of the squad, but we'll need more time to establish our game plan. Although we're not starting out as favorites, I can assure you that we won't be a bird in the hand.” Sorensen said.

    The Future Looks Bright

End of Season Press Conference Atalanta

Jack Sorensen has reflected on his inaugural season at the helm and is gearing up for a significant rebuild as the team looks to bounce back stronger next season. With a year of invaluable experience under his belt, Sorensen is determined to implement lessons learned and make necessary adjustments to return Atalanta to its competitive best. The final standing of the team was disappointing but the DBC adventure gave a glimpse of great prospects for the future. “It’s been a season of growth and challenges, both for the team and myself,” said Sorensen. “We’ve had highs and lows, but every experience has been a stepping stone toward building a stronger foundation for the future. This club has a proud tradition, and we are committed to upholding it.”

The S4 campaign marked Sorensen’s first season in charge, and while the team displayed moments of brilliance, inconsistencies plagued their overall performance. Key injuries, tactical experiments, and squad transitions tested the resilience of the squad. “I’ve learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t in this league,” Sorensen admitted. “The level of competition demands constant adaptation, and we are already identifying areas where we need to improve.”

Sorensen and the club’s management are now focused on a significant rebuild during the offseason. This involves identifying key areas for reinforcement and parting ways with players who no longer fit the team’s vision and investing in the next generation of talent through Atalanta’s renowned youth academy. The biggest task will be to rebuild the defence and rejuvenate it. Rumors says that Atalanta might promote Skrtel to this purpose. The club is also expected to be active in the transfer market, with Sorensen hinting at potential moves to bring in players who align with the team’s philosophy.

Sorensen expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of the Atalanta faithful throughout the season. “Our fans are the heartbeat of this club, and their passion drives us every day. We are fully committed to giving them a team they can be proud of.” The manager urged patience and optimism as the club navigates this transitional phase. “Rebuilding takes time, but I have no doubt that with the right moves, we will emerge stronger and more competitive.”

As Atalanta prepares for the S5, all eyes will be on Sorensen’s ability to translate his vision into results. The club’s commitment to its philosophy of dynamic football and youth development remains steadfast, setting the stage for an exciting chapter in its storied history.

        Fresh Ambitions

Atalanta Bergamo stands on the brink of a pivotal season, embarking on a new journey under the leadership of Jack Sorensen. After a mixed campaign last year, La Dea is determined to strike a balance between domestic success and their hunger for European glory. With a revamped squad featuring young talents and the arrival of a promising signing, the club aims to make waves this season.

Sorensen’s Vision and the New Leadership

Appointed as the head coach last year, Jack Sorensen has brought a fresh perspective to Atalanta. Sorensen inherits a team brimming with promise but eager for stability. In light of this, it was decided to promote Perin as captain. The experienced goalkeeper remains a key figure in maintaining the team's cohesion during this transitional phase. Sorensen has set a clear goal for the season: securing a playoff spot. "We’re building a team not just for today but for the future," said Sorensen during his unveiling. "Our ambition is to combine the energy of our young talents with the experience of our senior."

Key Transfers Define the New Look Atalanta

The summer transfer window saw significant movements in Bergamo, with the acquisition of rising star Tommaso Baldanzi capturing headlines. The Italian midfielder, known for his creativity was brought in to bolster Atalanta's attack. His dynamic playing style perfectly complements De Ketelaere's style. On the other hand, the club bid farewell to Reijnders, whose departure marked the end of an era. Reijnders’ move was a significant loss, but the funds generated were reinvested to enhance other areas of the squad, highlighting Atalanta's strategic approach to the market.

        A Strong Foundation from Within

One of the standout features of this season’s Atalanta squad is the infusion of academy graduates. With a focus on youth development, Sorensen has integrated several promising players into the first team. This shift aligns with the club’s philosophy of nurturing homegrown talent, ensuring sustainability while maintaining competitiveness. Sorensen's reliance on young players also stems from their impressive performances in preseason. With emerging stars eager to make their mark, Atalanta’s blend of youthful exuberance and experienced leadership positions them as an unpredictable force.

Reflections on Last Season and Renewed Ambitions

Last year was a tale of two extremes for Atalanta. While their league campaign in EFL2 left much to be desired, finishing far from playoff contention, the club shone brightly on the continental stage. Their incredible run to the final of the DBC, losing only on penalty, captured the imagination of fans, showcasing their potential to compete against Europe’s elite. This season, Sorensen aims to build on those European exploits while addressing the inconsistencies in the league. The focus is on resilience and consistency, qualities that were often missing during critical domestic matches last year.

        The Road Ahead

With renewed ambitions and a clear roadmap under Sorensen, Atalanta Bergamo is a club on the rise. The blend of fresh talent, a marquee signing in Baldanzi, and the leadership of Perin provide a solid foundation to achieve their playoff target. While challenges remain, particularly in integrating a younger squad, the determination within the camp is palpable. The fans in Bergamo have every reason to be optimistic. As the season unfolds, Atalanta’s journey promises to be one filled with excitement, challenges, and, hopefully, success. The playoffs may be the immediate goal, but under Sorensen’s guidance, this club is laying the groundwork for a much brighter future.

          Atalanta want to be DEAdly

Before you start planning your life schedule, it's a good idea to reserve a few slots so you don't miss out on any of rare and exciting matches. So for the next few months, don't plan on having a film night on Wednesday or taking a leisurely stroll on Saturday afternoon, and keep your eyes peeled for Atalanta's matches this season, whether in EFL 2 or in the European Cup. Not only have the Bergamo giants demonstrate great ambition, but they are also providing a constant spectacle for fans of Italian football, especially those who have are in love with the football champagne.

          Constant evolution
In S4, Atalanta surprised everyone by reaching the finals of one of the most prestigious European competition for the first time, before falling at the buzzer to Union Berlin. The people of Lombardy city were still mourning their defeat when the future arrivals of Leo Dubois, Tommaso Baldanzi and Sheraldo Beckers came to cheer them up. The landscape has changed, the players who can make a bit of money have not made long bones in the squad, and the club is now a regular on weekday fixtures. Last season, the other Nerazzurri missed the playoff by a wild gap but it is clear that the margin will be reduced this year and the festivities will start directly.
One thing has remained the same: the presence of Jack Sorensen on the bench. The man who will celebrate his 30th-ish birthday in January is not yet ready to be pushed towards the exit and continues to improve the team he has been shaping since last year. This season's line-up proudly bears his imprint, attacking in all directions, rushing into every free space, pressing to the point of exhaustion and leaving a few gaping holes at his back. The demands of this aggressive coach mean that he is able to get the best out of his squad, even though it is not the most glittering in the country. Gianluca Scamacca's lengthy absence through diverse reason has been more than made up for by the explosion of Charles De Ketelaere and the greater regularity of the binome Ederson and Teun Koopmeiners.
