Squad Numbers announced
With the season fast approaching, and the transfer window about to shut, the club have thought it safe to announce the shirt numbers for the first eleven for next season. Is this a bit premature though? as negotiations are still ongoing for some members of the squad. One change had to be made in defence as this was being typed! This also includes the improvement in mains in each area from last season.
Goalkeeper
1 G Mamardvili
The young Georgian with captain the side for next season, he has top flight experience with Arsenal last season, and is a major step-up from teenager Owusu.
Mains +2 (with captain abs)
Defenders
4 Eder Militao
Top class defender who has lots of experience at the top. He is the second youngest 23 rated defender in the game, and is seen as one of the two main stars in the side. Signed from Villa.
5 S De_Vrij
Old fashioned centre back, who is good with his head. Signed from Leverkusen on deadline day. Not the classiest at coming out from the back, but doesn’t mess around.
2 O Wijndal
One of only two survivors from last seasons EF2 winning squad. He might have lost the captaincy, but provides at least a little bit of continuity from last season.
3 A Telles
Another lad with good top tier experience, his legs might not be as quick as they used to be, but is another leader at the back. Signed from Liverpool.
6 J Lepenant
Not listed as a defender, but will be starting at the back predominantly next season, as part of his loan agreement. Classy young player, who can equally step into midfield. Loan from PSG.
Mains + 9
Midfielders
8 E Palacios
Will play the holding role in midfield, a fantastic talent who was signed in the auction, and will provide much needed cover for the defence.
10 P Coutinho
May be past his prime now, but still is a very classy midfielder with an eye for goal. He has lots of EF1 experience, so his know how will be invaluable to the side. Signed from Lisbon.
7 Suso
Whilst he is listed as striker, is likely to continue in his attacking midfielder role from last season where he was so effective. One of only two starters retained from last season, which shows how valued he is by the manager
Mains + 3
Strikers
9 Luis Diaz
Top class striker who will lead the line this season. Is a massive step up from the strikers available last season, and will hopefully rate up before too long. Is one of the top strikers in the game. Signed from Villa.
11 D Podence
The fans are furious about this one, as Podence was brought in exchange for fan favourite Nunez. What was the manager doing? Well, Podence is a higher rated striker, but will he hit as many goals as Nunez last season? Will he even stay for long? time will tell.
Mains + 4
So that’s it for the first eleven, with a massive 18 main skills gained on the side that finished last season. Are they EF1 ready? Hopefully!
