Wissam Ben Yedder Named Celtic Captain Again After Stellar Season

GLASGOW, May 29, 2024 ᅳ Celtic Football Club has the pleasure to announce that their top star forward, Wissam Ben Yedder, will continue as the team's captain for the second season in a row. This decision follows an amazing season, where Ben Yedder scored an incredible account of 28 goals, really contributing to Celtic's successful end of the season.

Last season, Ben Yedder's goals were key in leading Celtic to improve their final position on the table by the end of the season. His ability to score very important goals and lead Celtic to victory played a key factor in Celtic's obtaining a few wins and climbing on the table since his arrival. With a new season in sight, Celtic fans are quite excited to find out what Ben Yedder will bring to the team as they aim to finish at the top 8 of the EFL standings, which would qualify them for the European Cups after missing out on barely anything last season.

Ben Yedder has shown nothing but gratitude and his excitement at being named captain once again. “To be given this token of confidence once again is a great honour for me,” he said. “Last season was terrific, and I'm looking forward to repeating and improving on the number of goals scored during it. As a team, our main objective is to finish in the top eight and secure a place in the European Cups. We have a talented squad, new faces have arrived during pre-season that will help us meet our objectives.”

Celtics manager Matias Finkelstein also voiced his confidence in Ben Yedder's ability to lead the team. “Wissam has shown that he is not only a great striker, but also got used and set in Celtic faster than expected, even for someone his age, he still has the stamina of a youth, along Madueke they make a great duo. Really expect to see his face on the top of scorers leaderboard while he leads us to the top of the EFL table.”

Last season was proof of Ben Yedder's goal-scoring skills. He would find the back of the net quite often, helping Celtic earn valuable matches and points on their hunt for a spot in European Cups. Most of his 28 goals were a significant factor in the team's strong end of season streak, which sadly couldn't help the team to achieve their goal of finishing top 8, but gave both the fans and Matias Finkelstein hopes for the future. Everyone in Glasgow now has high expectations for him in the coming season.

Matias Finkelstein said his decision to keep Ben Yedder as captain for another season was not only because of his ability to score, but also because of his influence in the dressing room. He has gained the trust of his teammates thanks to his effort and dedication. In addition, his experience and commitment since his arrival have played a key factor.

Celtic fans are now eagerly looking forward to the new season, in the hope of being able to see more of Ben Yedder's magic on the pitch, and proving that he is a top-class goalscorer. His performance during previous season have raised the bar high but we can say he remains very confident as well as everyone around him, in and out of the field.
