    Buck remains at the helm

Good news for some, maybe not for others, Buck will stay on as manager. The news that Feyenoord brass and Buck had come to an agreement sprung earlier last week but was made official late today. The controversy as to whether Buck was the right man for the job started circulating the halls of De Kuip weeks prior to EOS; with the Tub Boys reaching pitiful form, not able to muster a win and stay in contention. Many pundits transcribe to the notion that the stay of execution was brought back as Feyenoord did the impossible and win promotion through playoffs.

Buck was in good spirits when asked about the decision, saying that he was content to stay on as manager. Adding “I am well aware of Feyenoords roll for the upcoming season, I certainly have big shoes to fill as manager of an EFL1 club”.

    Pre-Season news Blitz

With the celebrations in the dusk and the so called miracle on grass a pleasant memory. The reality of season IV is starting to set in; the horizon, a little less than promising. Just a few weeks ago fifth seed Feyenoord did the unthinkable by beating two formidable opponents in the EOS playoffs, catapulting the club into EFL1, a sort of wild card birth behind already promoted sides Fiorentina and Sevilla.

Time and funds are the major factors in Feyenoords attempt at success in EFL’s top flight league. Not to be pretentious, success is staying afloat, battling for every point and avoiding relegation.

A quick update on the clubs current affairs. Players that will not be dawning the Feyenoord colors this upcoming season, backup keeper D_Zagorac who at 36 decided to hang up his cleats, midfielder J_Dilrosun who was involved in an off season deal that has the midfielder moving to Villarreal.

With Feyenoords lacklustre performance in last seasons cup appearances, the club has opted for a few preseason acquisitions that should add depth to the squad, bettering they’re chances for the upcoming season.

With only two starting forwards, Buck was more than happy to announce the arrival of Villarreal’s O_Burke to the lineup, the 21M dollar forward will undoubtedly be a welcomed addition.

Another welcomed addition will be Racing Club Lens’ W_Farinez, the 16M dollar keeper will give a wider range of security for the last line of defence, the role as backup keeper will be a welcomed relief for starting keeper A_Muric. Not to take anything away from the current backup keeper I_Pandur who has done a spectacular job.

Feyenoords final deal in the off-season BONANZA is the 25M dollar purchase of Leeds United defender M_Niakhate, beefing up an already well oiled back-line, that should see plenty of action in EFL1.

The final peg for this season's new arrivals is youth sensation L_Di_Maggio who will be following in the shadows of defensive midfielder E_Gutierrez; looking forward to seeing what the youngster can do.

Finally, the decision as to which player will captain Feyenoord for the first half of season IV is Q_Timber. An attacking midfielder who has more than earned his stripes.

Not much else is expected; news of a stadium upgrade has taken a back seat, talks regarding any work to be done at De Kuip will be put on the back burner until next season.

Start dates for Feyenoords upcoming season

Monday July 1st the start of league matches. Domestic cup matches round 1, Wednesday July 3rd has Feyenoord visiting Fenerbahce. Two weeks later on July 17, the start of European nights, the Darren Bradwell Cup. Group A round robin play has West Bromwich Albion, Middlesbrough, Atalanta and yours truly Feyenoord vying for the top two spots. First round play will end September 4.
