English Defender Ryan Andrews Joins the Terriers !

The Terriers are proud to welcome to their ranks English defender Ryan Andrews, after last week’s Young Players Draft held by the FFO’s administration. Andrews, the son of former Watford forward Wayne Andrews, was selected with the 13th pick in the defenders round, and the 73rd overall pick which was held by Huddersfield Town. He will likely slot in the starting eleven right away, even though he’ll be the youngest player on the roster at only 19 years of age. Sources at the club point to him having signed an initial one-year contract with the club, along with an option for two ore seasons after that.

Having joined the Watford academy since age 8, he has successfully established himself as a capable full-back, able to win balls with relative ease and restarting the attack with good balls as well a great pace on and off the ball. He has also had a couple call-ups to the England U-20 side to his name, where he has also played good football for the national team. We have had the pleasure of speaking with Ryan since his signing to get his impressions.

The Terrier : First of all Ryan, welcome to the club !
Ryan Andrews : Thanks, it feels great to be here !

TT : What was your reaction when your name got called to play for Huddersfield Town ?
RA : Not going to lie, pretty much everybody on the list of players to be drafted, were wishing to be drafted to a club with a chance to play in the best championships, against the best opposition possible, myself included ! But that being said, I’m really happy to be here, simply because after speaking with the staff here at Huddersfield, I’ll be able to have an impact pretty much right away so I’m really happy about that. Any football player wants to play as much as he can, and the club will give me that opportunity really quickly.

TT : What are you looking for in your first season here ?
RA : Basically I’m looking to have the most impact on the club as I can. Playing week in and week out, along with Cup matches, and doing my best out on the field is what I’m looking for. Hopefully if I’m playing well enough, we’ll have a great season and we’ll be able to chase that promotion objective that the club missed last season.

TT : Have you had the chance to meet your teammates yet ?
RA : I’ve met some, most of the staff right away because they were all there for the signing of my contract with the club, but also some players as well, Lee (Nicholls) who’s the captain was pretty much the first of the players that I’ve met, and he welcomed me in the name of all the players, but I’ve also had a chance to chat with some of the defenders I’ll play with, like Jaheim (Headley) and Ben (Jackson), who were there at the stadium when I got there. They all had really nice words about the team and the fans, and I really liked talking to the guys, hopefully everyone on the team will be this friendly !

TT : Last question, what’s ahead for you starting now ?
RA : First of all it’ll be getting up to speed on the tactics and what the club is looking for me to do on the field, then it’ll be a matter of practicing with the team and see what I can do to help, and obviously keeping in shape so I can be at my best when the season starts !

TT : Thanks Ryan, and best of luck in the coming season !
    RA : Thanks !

Goalkeeper Lee Nicholls Appointed Team Captain

Huddersfield Town AFC has officially announced that goalkeeper Lee Nicholls will serve as the team captain for the upcoming season. The decision was an easy one to take for the club, highlighting Nicholls' leadership qualities and consistent performance on the field, as well as extending his captaincy from last season.

Nicholls, 31, has been with Huddersfield Town since the start of the club’s new endeavour in the updated FFO. Since then, he has established himself as a key player for the Terriers, earning respect from both teammates and fans alike. His impressive performances between the sticks have been pivotal in numerous matches, showcasing not only his shot-stopping abilities but also his commanding presence in the penalty area.

Manager Guillaume Rousseau expressed his confidence in Nicholls' ability to lead the team. "Lee has shown tremendous character and professionalism since I arrived at the club," Rousseau said. "He embodies the spirit of Huddersfield Town, and his experience and dedication make him an ideal choice for captain. I have no doubt he will inspire and guide our squad both on and off the pitch."

Nicholls' appointment comes as the club looks to build on their seventh-place finish in the Championship last season. The Terriers are aiming for a strong campaign, with ambitions of pushing towards the playoff positions. As captain, Nicholls will play a crucial role in fostering team unity and driving performance standards.

In his reaction to the appointment, Nicholls shared his enthusiasm and commitment to the role. "It’s an absolute honor to be named captain of Huddersfield Town," Nicholls said. "I’m grateful for the trust the manager and my teammates have placed in me since last season. We have a fantastic group here, and I’m looking forward to leading us into what I hope will be a successful season."

Fans have welcomed the decision, with many expressing their support for Nicholls on social media. His consistent displays of skill and leadership have made him a fan favorite, and supporters are optimistic about the positive impact he will have as captain.

Nicholls will officially don the captain's armband for the season opener, where Huddersfield Town will play away from home against a challenging Stockport County side.
