MANCHESTER UNITED MANAGER STEVE OUTTEN HAS CLAIMED THE CLUB WILL NOT MAKE A WHOLE HOST OF CHANGES DESPITE NARROWLY MISSING OUT ON THE TITLE LAST SEASON. THE CLUB DID LIFT THE FA CUP LAST CAMPAIGN AND MANY FEEL IT MAY BE TIME TO FRESHEN UP THE DRESSING ROOM IN SEARCH OF THAT COVETED LEAGUE TITLE. HOWEVER, THE CLUB HAVE CONFIRMED THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE NEUCLEUS OF THEIR SQUAD AND WONT MAKE A WHOLE HOST OF CHANGES.
There was a strong chance Outten wouldn't be here given the rumours of his future, with the cup win having no reflection on his future but a more "personal request" the reason it's as you were. But whilst the manager is staying it seems he is giving his players another opportunity to try and topple powerhouse Manchester City.
Some new faces have moved clubs and already made a whole host of changes this off season which doesn't interest the red half of Manchester, to the point where the club may bypass the auction unless someone is too good to turn down.
"Right now there is no reason at all, to dismantle and deconstruct this group of players. What they are capable of is quite a lot and we will continue to grow. We're letting Anthony (Elanga) leave, he wanted a new challenge and we'll miss him, especially off the bench where he scored all his goals from last term, but otherwise we haven't had enough offers which interest the club and we've been priced out of our main target so I can't expect too much to happen.
"These players have contractual obligations and we have to play them to meet their requirements so adding players for the sake of it isn't possible, we would only bring in something which will suit the club. This also goes for the forthcoming auction, unless something is really pleasing and creative for us, we wont be bidding.
United main target has been confirmed as a reunion with Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches, the dynamic midfielder did have a successful spell at the club previously before taking time away from FFO. Since coming back in Outten has been very impressed with him, and feels he would walk back into this club.
"Renato has developed nicely in his time away and he's looking more of a complete player. Lazio have done well with him and he's not let them down. I wanted to bring him back but simply put we got priced out of any deal and we think it's best to explore other avenues as a result. Because of that, I further expect us to be quiet, and with Jadon Slory signing his first pro contract we have an obligation to him too which means it's best we move on basically."
