Birmingham City today welcome care-taker manager Simon Marsh to the job. He will oversea Rounds 27 to 36 with Freddie Kaye enjoying a long extended holiday.

Birmingham City currently sit in 17th place from 20 teams in the Championship having suffered 5 consecutive defeats. They have gone down the youth route and results have taken a toll for the worse short-term. Thankfully there does not appear to be the threat of relegation and so Birmingham appear able to try and develop.

Manager Simon Marsh gave his thoughts on the job ahead "The number one priority is minutes. This club has simply no cash and cannot afford to lose a single player to players not meeting their retaining minutes. They appear to only have 22 of their own players with one on loan to make 23, so money will be needed already to up the numbers next season. With only 575k in the bank there are headaches ahead. There are currently 4 players who need to meet their minutes and that will be completed in my time here. Secondly we will try to improve results as best we can. Realistically the highest possible finish would be 14th whereas the club could finish bottom in 20th. Our target is to be sitting in 14th when Freddie comes back with all players retained. We don't have permission to delve into the transfer market so we must work with what we have and try and get the better young players as much improvement as possible so the club can look forwards to a better season 5.

Marsh continued "I like the look of Laird, Hall and Taylor. There will be a quite a few players upgrading their skills so we hope to play some attractive football to help them get there sooner rather than later. Unfortunately we are missing Taylor for the first game against Sunderland. Sunderland are 18th so this is a game we must try and win to improve the placings and end of season prize money available.

Marsh added "Longelo and Gozalbaz will play this game to get them their minutes. That will leave Sanderson and Anderson the main problems currently needing 144 minutes of football. There may yet be a further issue if a player upgrades in skill and requires more playing minutes but we will deal with that if and when it occurs.

One thing certain is the fans of Birmingham City crave some success. Real life Birmingham made some bizarre choices this season sacking manager John Eustace to be replaced by an absolute dunce of a bloke Wayne Rooney. Rooney took the club from 7th place to the fringes of relegation and unfortunately the 3rd manager of the season Tony Mowbray is on sick leave at present. This is a long way short of close season expectations after Tom Brady became involved in the club. FFO Birmingham are clearly also at the wrong end of the league table so both real-life and esms fans are unhappy with the clubs current league position.
