    FIORENTINA FANZONE

As February comes to an end, let's have an update on all things purple.

    LEAGUE NEWS

It's not been a great month for Fiorentina, despite hitting the ground running with some fine big wins, things appear to have fizzled out into defeats and draws, which leaves the club mooching about in fourth place. The manager has declared this is not good enough, and expects better things in March. It's not all bad news though as leaders Sevilla are only 6 points ahead, and there is still half a season to go. There has been a lot of change of personnel at Fiorentina this season, and it may be that the younger lads brought in need time to settle.

    EUROPE

Fiorentina currently sit third in their DBC group, facing an early exit. It all started so well with good wins against Watford and Celtic, but double defeats to Middlesborough dented the confidence. However a fine away draw at Celtic last night has at least given Fiorentina their destiny in their own hands. A final day home match against Watford will decide things, and if Fiorentina can pull off the win, they will be through to the knock out stages.

    TRANSFER NEWS

The month started very busily with Jovic, Phillips and Romero all arriving, and then Mason Mount arrived from Manchester United too.
The fans had plenty to get excited about, though not all the players have settled in quickly, and some have already left!
There was more big transfer news yesterday, as fan favourite Dembele, and new signing Mount have agreed deals with Celtic.
Incoming are 21 year old in demand striker Hojlund, and midfielder Zaniolo. What can this deal mean?

It is thought manager Kirby had already got fed up with Mount, who has performed like a donkey since signing on. Mount was offered to Celtic in exchange for Hojlund, as Kirby fancied trying three up front again, and after some intensive haggling a deal was struck, which also sees some cash coming to the purple ones.

It is not known how long Hojlund will stay however, as he has already been the subject of two bids.

    AUCTION NEWS

There is an auction coming up next week, and Fiorentina have made sure they at least have chance to have a bid, with the sale of Florentino last week, and a squaddie this week, along with some cash coming from Celtic. It will be an outside chance of signing someone as the coffers aren't deep, but who might it be? It is believed either a keeper or a midfielder might be the preference, though much will depend on the quality on offer, and if any other deals get agreed in the interim.

    CAPTAIN CHANGE

It is unknown at this stage whether Benitez will give up the captaincy at midseason. Whilst he hasn't gained enough abs to keep his 23 rating without the captain's armband, it is believed the manager is seeking a new keeper, and is tempted to give the armband to either Nunez or Hojlund up front. Hopefully this uncertainty won't affect Benitez's form.
