Millwall Football Club re-enter the world of FFO for season 3 and have appointed Gary Windebank as Manager of a club he has held a season ticket for since 1985.
This sees Windebank go a full circle as Millwall was the club that he joined FFO for back at the last four games of season 10 in the old FFO format.
Like now Millwall had the smallest Stadium in FFO and very limited resources but in the old FFO Millwall were languishing in League 1 with zero trophies despite 10 seasons in FFO. This is not a surprise as a lot of the historic managers as now resided North of the Watford gap and were and still are riddle in Millwall Phobia.
Windebank won League 1 in his first full season and not only expanded the Stadium from 25,000 to 95,000 he established them as a Championship Club.
Windebank moved onto Brighton and Hove Albion where he built them into a Premier League Force culminating in winning the Premier League Title winning more trophies than any previous managers or any manager since.
Windebank then moved onto Sporting Lisbon where he never won the EFL title but finished runners up to the mighty Steve Talbot's Real Madrid. Windebank did win more trophies than all the other Sporting Lisbon managers combined.
Due to another FFO shakeup Windebank refused to sign a new contract as he wanted to go back to South London and his beloved Millwall for Season 3 of FFO.
Windebank's historical team building style has been playing the much maligned OAP market and many in the world of FFO expect to see that ethos carried on by Windebank at Millwall.
This however does not seem to be the case if the first few deals of Windebank's tenure are anything to go by.
The first deal Windebank completed was with Ipswich Town with Windebank offering Ash Barkworth a deal the Ipswich Town Manager could not turn down.
Millwall defensive stalwart Jake Cooper and Scottish Striker Kevin Nesbit were sacrificed to bring in young striking wonderkid Dane Scarlett and 23 year old defender Leif Davis.
Windebank then reached out to Livi Edwards to sign listed 24 year old Croatian defender Josip Stanisic for £15m and squaddie Wes Harding.
To finance that deal Windebank sacrificed another Defensive stalwart Shaun Hutchinson for £15m and a Sqauddie. From Bayern Munich.
These transfer dealings certainly indicates a change in ethos from Windebank and we have a press conference with him tomorrow which we will hopefully be able to publish before the end of the week.
One thing for sure is that with Aidomo Emakhu being made this seasons Captain Millwall fans may have to remain patient for success as this looks like a long term project the Mouth of the South is undertaking.
