Sporting Lisbon have announced a shock replacement to managerial legend, Windy, who left for younger pastures. Anthony, heralded as one of the world's best managers has come in after a controversial exit to his incredibly successful time at Barnsley. We sat down with Anthony to ask a few pressing questions.
Interviewer: Welcome to Portugal!
Anthony: Thanks mate. What a pleasant change from the drab and rainy weather of Barnsley!
Interviewer: Have you tried a portguese tart yet?
Anthony: I am happily in a relationship but a few did try throw themselves at me...
Interviewer: No, the pastry..
Anthony: They weren't too pasty like in Barnsley, no...
Interviewer: Nevermind.
Interviewer: You had appeared to quit the world of management all together, why the change of heart?
Anthony: I was disappointed about an application process for a job, which, I truly believe I deserved, however, sometimes things don't go your way. I took 3 days to assess what I wanted from the managerial world, and saw this position was still vacant, as most managers were too scared to come to a club with established stars.
Interviewer: It is an ageing squad...
Anthony: It is. But, there are zero expectations here. The pressure is truly on the likes of AC Milan who have appointed a manager who hasn't done anything, which is odd to replace a world class manager in Mati with. Perhaps they were impressed with his petulance at being rejected by Inter Milan among others. Hopefully the fans can support him, but I have heard no one is happy about the appointment at all - except Wilson at Inter Milan who can't believe how easy it will be to finish ahead of his rivals, again.
Interviewer: Rumour has it you've made a signing?
Anthony: We have had a big accepted, pending some circumstances. This signing, shall it go through, and we hope it does, completes our playing squad for the season.
Interviewer: No more signings?!
Anthony: We do eye two players from Barnsley but we will see how it progresses over the coming days and weeks.
Interviewer: Boeteng isn't happy at being transfer listed, thoughts here?
Anthony: He knows he is our 5th defender, and unlikely to feature enough to warrant his talents. We are looking to move him on.
Interviewer: Back to the controversy, some say you've had many clubs in just 3 and a bit seasons?
Anthony: Well, Barnsley has been the consistent. We flirted with Frankfurt, and that has come back to bite me a bit I think. I did also caretake Lazio to a midtable finish with the worst squad on the game. I spent time caretaking AC Milan and Celtic with exceptional results in the EFL. If that is deemed as a lot of clubs, I am unsure what people like Hamza are called!
Interviewer: Some see you as a true helper of the game?
Anthony: I think so. Some managers refuse to caretake and also refuse to improve their side. Others apply for other jobs AND get relegated, and then are gifted brand new clubs ( e.g Benfica, fuck them). It really is a confusing time. I think those kind of managers are certainly the real quitters.
