    Premiership Round One - Arsenal 2 - 1 Sheffield United

    A winning start for Arsenal in a fixture that we really do need to be getting all three points from and we did just that to kick our season off. In seasons gon by we have struggled to get past the newly promoted sides or so called ' winnable ' games although we did make hard work of this one despite us being the better of the two sides.

    Michael Olise getting his first of the season and a debut goal for Luiz Fellipe got us the three points but it should have been by more after producing seventeen shots on goal but credit to Sheffield United, they didn't come to the Emirates to just sit back and their defence kept us at bay for a large part of the game

    All in all, a good result to start the season off.

    Arsenal Agree Double Deal With New Juventus Boss

    News coming out of the red side of North London this morning is that a deal has been agreed with Juventus which will see both Joe Gomez and Marcus Rashford leave the club and head to Italy. Since the change in management at Juve, talks have been taking place for both Gomez and Rashford who have been seen as key players to push the club on make a firm title challenge under the guidance of new Manager Tony Ayre.

    Arriving at the Emirates will be former Arsenal Defender Joško Gvardiol and Striker Santiago Gimenez. Fans will be fully aware of the quality of Gimenez after being heavily linked with the twenty five year old over the last couple of months and it was highly expected that he would have joined the club some weeks ago but rumours suggesting that Juventus and the previous management tried to change the fee which eventually halted the deal resulting in the public fallout between the two sides and they will also know the ability of Gvardiol after seeing him at the cub some seasons ago before he moved to Italy so will be delighted to have him back ;

    Code:
    J_Gvardiol 24 cro 1 22 19 9 25 1 15 14 116

    S_Gimenez 25 mex 1 4 19 23 28 1 618 419 235
    The Arsenal boss spoke to the media this morning ;

    " The deal is all done and agreed now and one that I'm not sure I expected to see but Tony has taken over and identified the players as targets to make his mark on his new side. I'm pleased with it. We were all set to sign Santiago Gimenez some weeks ago and to have the deal collapse was disappointing but its all worked out well in the end and although we lose two very good players, we get two back plus a fee which will be used to put back into the playing side as and when we are able too ".

      Premiership Round Two - Burnley 1 - 3 Arsenal

      Any sort of result away from home be it a point or a win is always a good return but we come back to North London will three to kick the season off with back to back wins.

      At half time we looked to be in full control of the game leading two nil thanks to an own goal from our former Balde and a goal from Marcus Rashford in his second and last appearance for the club and then the game was capped off in the second half when Bakayo Saka scored the third and final goal for us. Burnley did get one late on but the game was over by that point.

      Pleased to get the win against Burnley especially away from home.

      We say goodbye to Gomez and Rashford this weekend as they depart for Juventus but we look forward to the new players arriving.

        Premiership Round Three - Arsenal 3 - 4 Bristol City

        We have to reflect on this as a very poor result from a game we really should be getting maximum points from. Take nothing away from Bristol City, they were the better of the two sides on the day and we got what we deserved which was nothing.

        We were far from at the races in this one and at 3-1 down, we were second best and despite the fightback, City took the win in a game we need to put behind us and focus on the next. Pleased to see Michael Olise get another two to his tally but in all fairness, that was about as good as it got for us in this.

          Premiership Round Four - Spurs 1 - 1 Arsenal

          The first North London derby of the season ends with a point a piece and a result that we cant really have any arguments with. Limited to just one shot on target with that being a penalty is poor from us with the attack minded players that we we have but credit to Spurs for making it tough for us to get shots at their goal.

          With Gomez and Rashford not in the starting line up following their move away, it was Rashfords replacement Giminez who got a debut goal from the spot and in terms of anything else for us, that was as good as it got. Hickey getting sent off was far from ideal but luckily we held on for a decent point against the Champions.

          The first derby out of the way and looking at it, a point is a great result for us with how poor we were in the final third and going down to ten men so we will take it and scarper.

            Premiership Round Five - Arsenal 1 - 0 Aston Villa

            We had to work hard for this win against Villa who have started the season well. The only goal of the game coming from Timo Werner on 46 minutes but with just the one goal lea you can never relax and Villa have goals in them as they've showed so far this season. We were forced to make a change at the back with Hickey suspended but Raum is more than able to fill the void and he actually played well in his first start of the season.

            Pleased to see Lepenant get man of the match aswell, playing in a different position to which we bough him for but the main thing was the result which we got so pleased in that respect but the performance was far from our best.

              Champions League Group Game One - Arsenal 2 - 0 Bayern Munich

              We kick off this seasons Champions League off with a very good win at home against Bayern Munich, the side that very nearly tempted me to leave Arsenal for during the pre season. One of the best young rosters in the game and still a strong side, we didn't take it lightly and as Ant said, it was a pretty close game that fortunately went for us with goals coming from Giminez and Olise.

              We yet again find ourselves drawn in a very tough group so to get started with a win and a clean sheet is exactly what we wanted. Next up is a journey to face Freddy and his new Real Madrid side who have also started well so we will need to be at our best for that one.

                Premiership Round Six - Arsenal 2 - 3 Newcastle United

                We have to be frustrated at not winning this after creating so many chances. Take nothing away from Newcastle who created plenty themselves and got the three points but from our point, being at home we really should be winning games like these so a bit deflated after this one. Werner and Gvardiol getting our goals is a big plus but a shame we couldnt hold on for the win.

                Six games in, three wins, one draw and two defeats is an ok start but we do need to improve.

                  Premiership Round Seven - Southampton 0 - 1 Arsenal

                  After the defeat to Newcastle in round six, Arsenal had to bounce back against in form Southampton and they did just that at St Marys with a 1-0 win thanks to another goal from Defender Gvardiol after just six minutes gone. Scoring so early in a game is always tough to defend for such a large part of any game but Arsenal held out for eighty five minutes for the win and stopped the in form and former Gunner Alexander Isak out.

                  The Gunners boss spoke after the game ;

                  " Its no lie we were disappointed to lose the game against Newcastle after such a good start to the season but we bounced back in the best way possible and against a side that have started the season really well and the three points sees us move above them so a good result for the club.

                  A second goal for Gvardiol aswell since his return to the club, of course Id like to see the strikers get in on the scoring more but I wont complain today after the team picked up a great result ".

                    Champions League Group Game Two - Real Madrid 1 - 0 Arsenal

                    After the win in round one, Arsenal were dealt their first defeat of this seasons Champions League in round two away at Real Madrid. Just the one goal of the game and it came from former Arsenal Defender Dest on seventy five minutes, no doubt just when both sides thought it would end in a draw which going by the stats would have been a fair result but The Gunners just couldn't hold on nor get one back from one of their eight shots on target.

                    The Arsenal boss spoke after the result ;

                    " A bit frustrating in all honesty to keep the score at nil nil for so long to only go and let a goal in so late to eventually lose the game especially when we created so many chances of our own and held them at bay for such a large part of the game but we can take a great deal of credit for the way we played here despite the result not going the way we hoped it would. They are a quality side and Freddy is making his mark with them so fair fair play to them and we will hope we can get the win in the reverse leg "

                      Mixed Month For January But Gunners Boss Happy

                      As we near the end of January, the Gunners Boss has spoke about his sides results this month and insisted that he is happy with how the month has gone, but stated that the club need to turn the poor defeats round or face another season of falling behind.''

                      The Gunners gaffer had this to say ;

                      Overall a very good month from the players, some good wins but also a couple of defeats in the league which we really should have got more from. It has been our down fall for some seasons losing so called ' winnable ' games but it shows the quality of sides in the game now. The Win against Southampton was a very good one especially when you look at the start they have made this season. We just need to fine tune a few things and focus on the next set of games and to keep putting points on the board and not allow a gap to open up.

                      The Champions League has got off to a mixed start for us, winning against Bayern but then losing to Real Madrid so we need to get back to wining way against Utd in the next game but looking at our group, its certainly one of the harder ones drawn that's for sure but as we have shown in many seasons gone by, if we are to qualify, we do it the hard way.

                      We have managed to end January with no injuries which is a real bonus and also welcomed a couple of new signings in Gvariol and Giminez from Juventus so all in all, a busy month for us but we need to focus on a good February and put pressure on the sides around us.
