Atletico Madrid 2 - 2 Barcelona
Contrasting line ups with the same tactics would give an interesting game. In the whole Atletico did enough to be victorious with a 26-18 shot count. Atletico led twice through a double from R_Sessegnon (22,40) but despite gaining tacticial advantage after both goals they ever so quickly conceded eqaulisers.Overall it has to be put down as 2 points lost for the home side.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "We are disappointed. Barce are decent but if we have any hope of finishing top-4 results need to be better. We could be sat here on 7-9 points and we have 4. Its rinse-repeat record-player but we just struggle to turn good performances into results. Perhaps we should have changed our line-up when leading and that is one to reflect on".
Next up AC Milan who have opened up with 4 points in low scoring games.

Marseille 2 - 0 Atletico Madrid
A hugely disappointing result for Atletico. The performance was average but an 8-9 shot count should have been enough to gain a minimum point. It loos worse with Marseille scoring twice with only three shots on target despite Martinez being suped up to 26 rated. After Atletico struggled for goals in the first game this trend continued tonight and there is 0 goals from 20 shots of Muani, Havertz and Osimhen.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "We got the early tactical advantage and I was immediately very confident of our chances. Often in football first goals are the most important and when we fell behind very early we then lost the tactical advantage and that evened the two teams up. I have to say though that we were playing against a young inexperienced side who were reduced to 10-men and so very disappointed we didnt control the game better and create more chances. As for the goalkeeping we sick of saying the same old. It does not appear to matter who is in goal for us and how good they are. Too many shots just find their way in".
Atletico will face Barcelona in the Round 3 league games.

Atletico Madrid 2 - 0 Bayer Leverkusen
B_Cristante (28), M_Odegaard (80)
A new season and one that the fans begin with renewed hope that this one can better than the last. Atletico would start at home to a side who they would be expected to win and on the night they did more than enough to take all three points.
A shot count of 26-7 proved the home side worthy winners and was it not for a great performance by 24-rated Bijlow the scoreline could have been more. For some time the game was in the balance with Atletico struggling to add a second goal until late in the game. Thankfully the defence stood tall and Martinez dealt with the few chances Leverkusen managed on target.
Manager Simon Marsh commented "Whilst a little frustrated we did not score more when we look elsewhere at both results and performances the esms gods have had a party tonight. They must have enjoyed the long off-season and let their hair down and the result is quite manic. We are very pleased therefore to get the three points and look forwards to the game at Marseille who started the season well with a win at Barcelona"

Atletico expected to part ways with new midifeld signing S_Comesana. The player was only purchased in the close season for £13.5m. With some santa abs the player has festively gained a main skill to 19-rated and so with it his value increases to £16.0m Comesana is set to be placed up for sale in case any current clubs wish to purchase him otherwise he will be sold to a sunny-happy-nest somewhere in another dimension of esms football for a small profit of £2.5m. This will increase the bank balance to one pound short of £69m and promote the club to the 8th highest cash pile overall.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "The player was only ever coming here on a short term deal and it was a small project for small profits. Every million pound is becoming more valuable with every passing FFO day so we will take this small gain and run to the hills with it. £69m is a competitive bank balance at present and when you look around only two teams have large amounts of cash at present.

Atletico Madrid manager Simon Marsh declared today that he expects Paris St Germain to win the league by 15 points
and anything less will be a failure.
Marsh commented "PSG should be winning the league every season lets be honest but with the managerial changes
that have taken place the scene is set for a long run of title successes. Hamza took Roma on a different route
deciding that they needed to reduce their average players ages. They are still a good looking team but a way off
from being title challengers. Juventus massively over-achieved last season with the luck of the gods on their side
until the back end of the season when things started to level out a little. Whoever, gets the Juve job wont be as
good as Andy Banks and the only way into title contention would be to trade young for older very quickly and very
few would be brave to break up a quality younger side. Real Madrid lost their talisman manager Steve Talbot who is
regarded as one of the very best across all of esms football. Whereas Ian came in and changed very little and won
the league Kaye has gone part-way down the Hamza route in reducing the players ages but this will likely affect
results. They also look to have a few player minute issues with Mane needing 2000 and Watai 720 and so they wont be
able to play their best eleven as often as PSG will theirs. I think one or two of the chasing pack have player
minute headaches.
Marsh continued "The consistency at PSG is there for all to see. The manager knows more about most teams than the
actual managers of the respective clubs do. They have the best team on paper, a manager who eats tactical
spreadsheets for breakfast and they do not have a player minute issue. On top of that they have monsterous bank
balance that is only smaller than its actual size because the manager has cash hidden to keep below the £300m mark.
Ed will keep spinning in the media but that evidence is there for all to see. A 15-point winning title is on the
cards.
Marsh added "We would like to be the side that stays within 15-points of PSG. I think Real Madrid will start as
strong contenders for 2nd place and Juventus 3rd but we hope to be the ones that are challenging those two teams.
I honestly think we are a little better than Bayern, Inter, Ac Milan, Barcelona and Roma. Fiorentina look likely to
join normal champions league chasing sides this time. Kirby has had a very strong off-season. Its up to us to show
up and be better this season although I am hopeful of a more favourable return from the esms gods after two seasons
of poor luck.
