  • Press Conference-Salzburg/Sheffield United

Good Afternoon everyone. I’ll be taking a few questions about both Salzburg and Sheffield United. I

Reporter 1: How do you evaluate Salzburgs second season with you as the manager?
Thacker: It was disappointing. I thought we had the talent to get higher in the table but we seemed to have some of the same problems as last season. Good start, moving to mid-table, then a collapse and settling in at P18. The bright spot was that great run that the club made in the FLT cup. Getting to the finals of is important, even if we did not walk away with the trophy. I can see improvement on the stat sheets but not in the table. We still have a long way to go.

Reporter 2: What improved in Salzburg?
Thacker: We have more points than last season. We were able to turn some of last years losses into draws. The goal differentials was still negative, but we cut the margin by over a half. To be better, though we need to get more wins. We need 50-55 points next season.

Reporter 3: Are there any transfers in the works for Salzburg.
Thacker: It’s unlike we’ll make many changes before mid-season. We have one player coming in that will be a reserve. I’ll have more on that later. We’re going to watch the revenue and see that happens at mid-season.

Reporter 4: Why a coach instead of 5,000 more seats?
Thacker: We need to accelerate our Academy’s progress. We will continue to invest their, in three seasons, things are going to look a lot different around here in two season because of our current players and new talent.

Reporter 5: What is a realistic expectation for Sheffield United?
Thacker: We caught the promotion rung by our fingernails and we are going fight like hell to stay up. We’ve revamped the roster, and we’ll get these young lads going. We made two new signings this weekend and have solidified a loan in. The roster is now stabilized and we’re going to start doing to work on lineups this week. And yes, I’ll be working with Sheffield under a new manager is hired.

Reporter 6: What is the status of Sheffield United's Academy?
Well, just as at Salzburg, I feel like the academy for SU needs to be improved. We pulled three players from their this season, and we were committed to replace them with two new ones. We did not have the finances for scouts yet, and I hope I or the next manager fixes that.

    Thanks everybody.
