Welcome to Munich - Ant Harris' first official press conference.
In a move that has electrified the footballing world, Ant Harris has now fully settled in to his surroundings as the new Bayern Munich boss. The Australian who has managed a few clubs in his time, is expected to make an immediate impact Bavaria as they aim to improve and build on Jon Bank's incredible finish last campaign.
With a deetn record in the EPL, Harris arrives in Munich on the back of a standout season. The manager, who is reportedly on a hefty pay increase, reflects Bayern’s commitment to finding a manager who won't make massive changes and will hopefully build on the yougn squad he has inherited. At the press event, Harris stood proudly, wearing a Bayern Munich suit and tie alongside club president Herbert Hainer and sporting director Max Eberl.
Harris expressed his excitement about joining the Bundesliga giants. “Bayern Munich is a club with a rich history and a winning mentality. I’ve always admired their style of play and their passionate fanbase. It’s an honour to lead this incredible club and team,” he said. “I can’t wait to contribute to the club’s success and grow as a pmanager in a top top league."
The press conference saw journalists from leading German media outlets including Bild, Kicker, and Süddeutsche Zeitung pose questions to Harris.
Bild journalist Michael Müller asked Harris about Bayern’s transfer strategy and his role in the club’s plans.
“Bayern has a clear vision for success, and the ambition here is incredible,” Harris responded. “When I spoke with senior management and the directors, it was clear they wanted me to be a key part of their future. I’m here to bring my experience and skills to a team that is already world-class. I believe we have the potential to achieve great things together.”
Kicker’s Hannah Schöne focused on Harris’s move to Bavaria and how he plans to adjust to his new surroundings.
“Munich is a beautiful city, and I’ve already started exploring it,” Harris shared. “I have been here twice before in a previous life! The people have been so welcoming, and the culture here is amazing. I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the Bavarian way of life. My family and I are excited to call this place home, the mointains, the greenery, it rruly is special..”
Finally, Tobias Gruber from Süddeutsche Zeitung brought up a lighter topic, asking Harris about his favourrite German beer.
With a laugh, Harris admitted, “I’m still discovering, but I’ve tried a couple of Weissbiers, and they’re fantastic. Paulaner of course is a persona lfavourite. I went to Oktoberfest in 2010, so I may have to sneak over again there next year!"
