Talbot Takes the Helm at Dortmund
Welcome to the first edition of the Echte Liebe Echo, the new english language newsletter for Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund..
So the big news, is that obviously, former Real Madrid and current Chelsea manager Steven K. Talbot has stepped in to guide Borussia Dortmund on a caretaker basis. Talbot, known for his calm demeanor, sharp tongue and tactical adaptability, faces a new challenge as he combines duties at Stamford Bridge for Signal Iduna Park.
With the Yellow Wall at his back, Talbot has vowed to uphold Dortmund’s attacking philosophy which is a trademark of Talbot's style so is for sure a good fit for BVB. Talbot has told the fans that he will implement a radical philoshy of totally ripping up the club from its roots to build a whole new begining for the German club.
Once turned down for the Dortmund job while an up and coming manager at Real Sociedad, Talbot has seen a once promising young team under Adam Ro all set to be the next big thing of FFO decline into a wasteland of OAP's and only half a team.
Dortmund do have an Academy coach and a scout which is one bright spark, worth £45m as an asset and it will be the basis from which Talbot will build from.
A new Uranverein project!
Some critics have noted that Talbot is taking a soft touch for a caretaker role with BVB having the £45m worth of academy assets and a couple of players with a good SHN value. However it is true that there is only half of a legitamate team at the moment in Dortmund and most of them are OAP's and near the scrap heap, a big squad turn around is needed even to be competative but Talbot it seems has something bigger and more long term in mind. Indeed there may even be more assets to sell at another team in need at the moment in Marseille if you added up the values.
Nevertheless, Dortmund fans are eager to see how he channels Echte Liebe into success on and off the pitch, and just how radical Steven K will be in this new role.
Tschüss!
