Sheffield United Press Conference-Interim Manager Dave Thacker
Reporter1: Has the team leadership had any contact for a new Manager?
Thacker: I have not heard that anyone has applied. It’s a shame. It’s looks like were could be headed for promotion, and you would think many managers would like to be running a Premiership club.
Reporter2: Has leadership reached out to you to removed the “Interim” tag?
Thacker: There have been rumors, but I’m here today to tell you that they are not true. I’m committed to Red Bull Salzburg. My engagement with Sheffield United will end when the new manager steps in.
Reporter3: Do you think the number of flags that Assension has been given were fair?
Thacker: I will not discuss officiating in this meeting. I report my thoughts after each match to the league office. Marco’s passion has help up put in a position to get promotion, and I’m not going to tell him he needs to change his game.
Reporter 1: As you look towards to the end of the season, do you see changes in the lineup.
Thacker: I expected at least two players will retire at the end of the season, opening slots for some for some Academy players. We have a veteran team, and will have to mix in some youth to keep the club on a good footing.
Reporter 2: What are the Sheffield United’s prospect in the Premiership.
Thacker: I will not sugar-coat this. If we are promoted, next season with be very difficult. The goal will be very simple: avoid relegation. If we stay the for a second season in the Premiership, we will have done well. Points are going to be hard to come by, and we will need the supporters to show some patience.
Reporter3: Do you see any changes with the club other than the lineup?
Thacker: I’ve been in touch with board about trying to improve the academy. The stadium is at a good level and probably will not be updated this season. We will be razor-focused on trying to bring in some younger transfers to complement our veterans. As our keeper as announced his imminent retirement, that will be a critical target. It’s going to be challenging, because Premiership prices are so much higher than the championship.
Thank you, I will with you after the end of the season.
Words: 393 for Sheffield United.
