I had been able to keep the club at the top of table for several weeks. I felt like the ESMS gods were working overtime as we racked up wins. However, what goes up can definitely can go down. And it did. We slip down off the top of the table. We’re sitting here in second, but we are only 4 points clear of the playoff. No pressure, right?
I’m having mixed feelings about promotion. The prize money would be helpful for and SU rebuild, but the prices go up in the the Premiership and SU has a lot of needs. I’ve always despised professional teams that tank to get a better position in the next season. I understand the the “rebuild” process, when you take a period of seasons to get back to a strong team, but I think it’s bad form to speed up the process by intentionally fail. I’m pressing through to try and get promotion. That means the roster is locked down. We’ll see if I took the right course, but I’m not going to cry if SU stays down.
So while I ponder promotion, I need to figure out the Season 5 roster. I’ve got an ancient roster: 13 of the 23 players are 30 years old or more. Thirteen effing thirty-somethings! I haven’t checked but this has got to be the oldest average bunch in FFO. Two of these old geezers have no transfer value, and will need to go find a Burger King or curry shop to manage after this season. The revered Sheffield United Academy has three players that can be promoted. I hate to ransack the Academy, but this is a dire situation and SU needs help. I’ll try to cushion the blow by putting some more players in the academy, but the budget will dictate how much I can do.

Words: 326 for Sheffield United.
