Barnsley after a bright start have faltered recently and were at home to Blackburn who lie just below the top pack. Rovers took the lead through Rodri in the first half and Jack Grealish doubled the lead just after half time as Blackburn took control. Barnsley were deflated and Sane put them further behind just after the hour mark. Williams late consolation strike was ruled out for offside and the score line was harsh on Barnsley who are luckless of late

Burnley were looking for more points against Cardiff at Turf Moor and attacked from the off. Guedes thought he had given them the lead just before half time but his header was ruled offside, and just after he did get his goal when Alsop let his strike go through him. Lepenant hit a long range effort to equalise for Cardiff on 66 minutes and then Burnley defender Araujo restored the home lead - but just for 2 minutes as Zapata hit a superb equaliser for the second time for Cardiff. Burnley definitely had more chances than their opponents but Cardiff continue to look good value and 2-2 was the final score.

Chelsea have been on fine form lately and hosted Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. The home side went ahead through Kayode’s low drive but Villa kept themselves in the game and equalised through a fine Raphina strike in the second half. Steve Talbot’s men battered away but couldn’t find a winner and it was honours even.

Top of the table Leeds travelled to Anfield looking to cement their position and Berardi put them ahead in the first half only for De Jong to equalise as the game came to life. A moment of magic from Chukwueze put Leeds back in front and Angel Di Maria rolled back the years with a third as Leeds shocked the home fans. Liverpool dominated and had better chances than their opponents but Leeds managed to see them off and finished victorious, 3-1.

Man United are really moving in the league now and Mathias De Ligt put them ahead straight from the kick off against Newcastle who have had off the pitch issues of late. Nacho scored the 2nd in the 16th minute and 2 minutes later Gavi the third, and it was all over bar the shouting at Old Trafford. Asprilla came on for the injured Gordon and scored a 4th for United as they blew away their opponents who need to regroup.

At Hillsborough one of the managers had sent his assistant to deal with the game and Everton’s manager didn’t turn up, meaning Sheffield Wednesday had a significant advantage. The home side took their opportunity and scored through Calhanoglu to take the lead, who then turned provider for Hogan to score their second.Ollie Watkins scored a late brace for the Owls to make it 4-0 and a much needed victory in their fight for survival. Everton, like their manager, did not turn up.

Southampton are pushing away at the top sides and hosted Crystal Palace at St Mary’s. Martinelli put them ahead in the first half and then an Anton own goal just on half time made it 2-0. Saints made hay in the second half and further goals from Diaby (2) and Kulusevski completed a 5-0 rout and an announcement from the Southampton side that they need to be watched.

Spurs welcomed Leicester to North London are were looking to get back on track. It was an open game with plenty of chances but no goals until, with five minutes to go, Leicester thought they had won it when Almiron scored against the run of play. Rasmus Hojlund has made a name for himself for scoring late goals and his last gasp equaliser grabbed a point when it looked like Spurs were beaten

Man City were the visitors to Vicarage Road and got a surprise when Watford took the lead through Embolo’s swerving shot. Phil Foden seemed uncertain of where the manager wanted him to play for 10 minutes and at half time Nick Lovell had had enough and substituted him for Goodman. Just after half time the Watford fans went bonkers as Louza again with a fine strike made it 2-0 to the Hornets. Goodman pulled one back for City and then with the full time whistle looming Vlahovic equalised with a wonderful individual effort to share the points after a scare for the champions.

A London derby at the London stadium saw West Ham take on Arsenal. The Gunners started strong and Schlotrbeck put them ahead from Olise’s cross. Timo Werner then went on a mission, scoring with a drive on 15 minutes, and then a chip on 21 minutes with Pope stranded. He completed his hat trick in the second half as Arsenal ran riot and won 4-0 to become one of the top three.
