A quick round up this week as with all the goings on the newspaper space has been at a premium
There was some fantastic news for Sheffield Wednesday fans as their side took 3 points from Barnsley, gaining their first win of the season. Barnsley defender Edgar conceding an own goal just before half time, then Barnsley equalised through Anderson, but Zaniolo popped up with 15 minutes left to get an away winner and a first win for Wednesday!!
MOM : Zaniolo (Sheff Weds)
Another timely win, this time for Burnley who pulled off another surprise as they beat Arsenal at home 2-1, with goals from Morata and Hamsik after debutant Fati had given Arsenal the lead - all goals coming in the second half.
MOM : Fati (Arsenal)
Chelsea remain ‘on fire’ as they beat Leeds at home to knock Tim Davey’s men off the top. Again the away side took the lead through Fekir but Odegaard’s 6 minute brace secured the points - injuries here for Lenglet and De Bruyne but De Bruyne is fit to play on Friday.
MOM : Odegaard (Chelsea)
In Leicester it was a promoted clubs battle with the visit of Cardiff - Simeone’s first half goal was the only one of the game as the Foxes came out on top
MOM: Sotoca (Leicester)
Man United’s league form continues to impress as they comfortably saw off Crystal Palace 2-0 at Old Trafford, goals from Pedro Porro and Asprilla on the strike of full time
MOM : Porro (Man U)
Newcastle won at home to Villa after a couple of defeats, James Ward Prowse who has been impressive of late opening the scoring and Llorente after just 18 minutes putting them 2-0 up which was how it ended.
MOM : Ward-Prowse (Newcastle)
Southampton have been flying, and completely dominated Blackburn at home but fell to a 1-0 defeat, Sane scoring with Blackburn’s sole shot on target just after half time
MOM : Starfelt (Blackburn)
Spurs were magnificent at home to Man City and won 3-0 which based on the stats was thoroughly deserved. First half goals from Tomiyasu, Calabria and a Hojlund penalty propelled them back to the top of the table.
MOM: Calabria (Spurs)
The astounding Everton beat Watford away 4-3 to make it 4 without defeat. A brace from Aouar and Lukaku did the damage as they went 4-0 up before Watford came back through Newhaus and 2 from Davis all in the last 10 minutes but just not quite enough.
MOM :Lukaku (Everton)
Liverpool made it 3 wins in a row as they went to West Ham and came back with all 3 points, first half goals from Alba and Rashford doing the damage. 5 without a win for the Hammers.
MOM : Jordi Alba (Liverpool)
Team of the Week: Agirrezabala (Burnley)), Marquinhos (Man C), Hincapie (Spurs), Starfelt (Blackburn), Akanji (Liverpool), Bergwijn (Spurs), Valverde (Man U), Ward-Prowse (Newcastle), Odegaard (Chelsea), Lukaku (Everton), Fati (Arsenal)
Performance of the Week : Finally, a victory for Sheffield Wednesday - congratulations!!!
Shocker : Barnsley will have been bitterly disappointed to lose this derby game and Ant Harris needs to find a way to turn his team around again. They and West Ham are at the bottom of the form table.
