Spoils shared at Brentford Community Stadium as Banks takes charge of first game
Last night's Round 13 fixtures in the English Championship saw a struggling Brentford hosts Norwich City in a historic day which would see Juventus head coach Andy Banks take charge of the London based club for the first time after being drafted in to save the club from relegation and potentially liquidation.
Banks had wasted little time in getting stuck in with the squad at the set up at the club but there's only so much a man can do in the limited time he's been afforded up to now, so what impact could his arrival have on the pitch?
Brentford started with a simple 4-4-2 formation while the visitors played a more cautious 5-2-0-2-1 formation which perhaps points to why they'd only conceded 9 goals in the opening 12 games this season.
Brentford looked to pass the ball around Norwich City and 16 minutes into the game, striker K_L_Potter beat J_Kounde and slotted the ball into the back of the net sending the crowd wild.
Brentford looked to build on this but against the run of play, defender S_Duffy scored the goal of his career and the tie was level again.
Despite being the better team, Brentford couldn't find a second and the game ended in a 1-1 draw which does neither team any favours in the league.
After the game we spoke to caretaker manager Andy Banks to get his reaction:
"It's a positive start, but we're feeling like we should have won the game.
We were the better team, but sometimes in football you're the better team and don't win so we'll have to keep going into the next game against Ipswich Town and try to win that one. I'm sure we'll have a game that we deserve to lose and we'll get a win so it won't bother us too much."
