Brentford vs Norwich City pre match build up
With the round 13 fixture between Brentford & Norwich City just hours away, we'll take a look at the lay of the land between these two Championship teams.
Tonight's hosts come into tonight's game on the back of just 1 win in their last 6 games which has seen them sink to 19th place while Norwich City have a record of 2 wins, 2 draws & 2 defeats in their last 6 games with those 2 wins being the only 2 wins this season after they started the season without a win in their first 6 games.
While Brentford have the league's worst defensive record, their opponents tonight boast one of the best defensive records with only Nottingham Forest (12th) & Stockport County (2nd) holding better records than themselves with Brighton & Hove Albion (4th) having the same record.
While this defensive record is impressive for Norwich City, they've found gals extremely hard to come by, scoring just 8 goals so far this season in 12 games played so how will this go?
Norwich can defend but can't score....
Brentford can't defend...
Brentford come into the game at full strength while tonight's away team Norwich City will be without 28 year old defender D_Giannoulis through a suspension which he picked up in his previous game against Birmingham City. The Greek was sent off just 30 minutes into that game as Norwich City slumped to a 1-0 defeat at St Andrews.
We caught up with caretaker manager Andy Banks as he prepared for the game later tonight:
"It's a big game for us, we know they're missing a player which will be a big boost for us. but we'll have to work hard to break them down.
Something like 9 goals they've conceded in 12 games, that's impressive and while they've struggled to find goals themselves, I'm sure they'll start finding the back of the net so we have to be careful.
We know that a win would see us move above Norwich City in the league table and COULD push us up as high as 13th if results can go our way but it's just 1 game and the result won't make or break our season.
Tonight we're looking to start a run of games that if we can put a good run together, can send us flying up the league towards the top 6.
We're 10 points from those play off places but it can be done, we have to believe in our ability and it'll show on the pitch."
