Dortmund 0 5 Roma
We've been advised by those more knowledgeable that we'll suffer playing with 3 out & out strikers. And will need to sell Ben Yedder. We seemed to do ok against a weak Dortmund side who look like they'll have a long season ahead.
We'll face tougher games but nice to see Mbappe start with a hat-trick.
Roma 2 0 Celtic
A straightforward win against an improved Celtic side. Some wayward shooting meant we had to wait until the 90th minute to secure a 2nd goal which made the TK a little twitchy in the dugout.
Happy with 3 wins out of three. And with the big boys already gathering at the top could be a cracking title race.
Roma 6 1 Bologna (EFL Round 1)
It was a pretty poor show from our 3 superstar forwards who didn't score and our GK who lost an ab.
Hoping to draw Real Madrid in R2 so we can shut them up. They are annoying us already and it's only week 1.
Rangers 0 4 Roma
A pathetic effort from Rangers who didn't manage a single shot on target. Courtois hasn't conceded a single goal in the league yet.
If we keep facing defensive C/D we will have a straightforward season. Last season showed it doesn't work against the Roma A.
Different proposition next though - Real Madrid in the cup. And whilst they are a fading superpower under Talbot's calamitous reign. We are taking nothing for granted and will be putting out our best 11 and going for a strong victory.
Roma 2 3 Munich
We backed our A against the usual predictable C from JB. Bayern got the early goal and then a soft penalty in the 2nd half. But we pushed forward, threw Pellegrini on and switched to 4 at the back. We deservedly scored 2 to get ourselves level.
But then the sucker punch 4 minutes into injury time to ruin our 100% league record.
Roma 5 1 Southampton (Champions League Game 1)
Nice to get back to winning ways after a poor run.
We never do well in this competition so no doubt we'll screw it up. We've got tougher games to come and Outten & Marshy won't be so easy to overcome.
Roma 0 4 Madrid (EFL Cup R2)
Got the predictable N from the former great team. And so we edged the stats with a greater shot count. But the previously impenetrable Courtois had a disastrous night. Facing 8 shots he conceded 4.
Our superstar forward lineup couldn't convert any chances with Mbappe failing at his first major game of the season.
Credit to The Ruthless One for not pulling up the draw bridge after scoring their first goal. Although in hindsight I'd have preferred that.
Guess we'll have to be content with the double this season.
Inter 0 0 Roma
Fearful Inter crept out of the changing room with their tails between their legs. Quaking at the sight of the Roma juggernaut and their superior manager.
With a defensive line up, leaving only 1 player up front. Inter had only one plan. Avoid defeat in front of their home fans.
The resulting dull game excited no one.
Courtois has conceded 7 goals in the last 2 games. So at least he avoided disaster here.
Now if only my forwards could learn how to score...
Roma 1 2 Atletico Madrid (Champions League Game 2)
Marshy is one of the top EFL managers in my book. And is building a strong team.
So I knew this would be a tough game and was pleased we got our noses in front. But when Madrid gave up their defensive approach and attacked us they got back into the game.
Even stats so a little disappointed to lose this one.
Roma 6 0 Monaco
We usually struggle against the John. So relieved he gave us an easy ride here.
PSG were running away with it already so nice to close the gap a little.
Not much to say about the match except we took our chances.
Roma 5 1 Marseille
Poor performance from the Galaticos. We spent the last 44 minutes shooting endlessly but without scoring.
With free-scoring Real & PSG ahead of us we are going to need to sort out our goal difference by being more clinical in front of goal. Ben Yedder was on the bench for this one - might need to take him off the transfer list and show the others how it's done.
Roma 5 - Napoli 0
Another shocking performance from the title favourites.
Despite oozing shooting quality all over the pitch we failed to score a single goal in the second half. I'll admit it's a total embarrassment. I'm lost for words. We brought KDB on in the 2nd half but even he failed to produce any magic.
We are away to Barca next. And I'm fearing the worst after this.
Barca 0 2 Roma
Bloody hell - when we saw Edwards out before the match bricking up the Barca goal - we thought we had no chance here.
Backline of 7 playing C + TA + HA.
The lack of attacking intent from Barca gave Goretzka freedom to run the game from his defensive midfield position. And bored with nothing to do he roamed forward and scored after 5 minutes.
With 20 minutes to go Edwards finally found the courage to have a go at scoring.
But it was too little too late.
