    League Game 1 -

    Barcelona 4
    Marseille 1

Suicidal style set up from the visitors and yet we only went in goalless at half time. Thankfully we finally took advantage of the numerous chances we were creating in the 2nd half but we walk away feeling a little bit underwhelmed at the outcome. The likes of Roma would have hit double figures against this type of kamikaze approach.

Shouldn't moan I suppose but this game tells us nothing really, a testing trip to Atletico on Friday will give me a better idea of what kind of a season we're likely to have.

Before that a tricky cup game against Fiorentina. Under no illusions what kind of challenge that will be against an experienced and very capable manager particularly as we'll be without our star striker after he stupidly got himself sent off right at the death.

    League Game 2 -

    Atletico Madrid 2 Barcelona 5

The score line certainly flatters us, we had one more shot on target so obviously 5-2 isn't a fair reflection of how tight the game was.

Nevertheless we're delighted to pick up 3 points at such a tough venue and against one of the teams we'd be expecting to be competing with towards the top end of the table. Jesus was back from suspension and was electric today scoring with all 3 of his shots.

A good first week for us but we know how quickly things can change so we're certainly not getting carried away.

    League Game 3 -

    Barcelona 2 Napoli 1

A far from vintage performance but we did enough to merit the win and are one of the five EFL1 clubs who enjoy a 100% record at this very early stage of the season. Good to see Mahrez and Malinovskyi both finally break their duck.

Next up an extremely tough EFL Cup clash against PSG. Feels like we've drawn them in the early rounds of this competition for the last 4 seasons or so. We've a very good record against them but as always we go in as underdogs and will need to be at our very best to progress.

    League Game 4 -

    Barcelona 2 Lazio 2

An open and action packed game of football with a share of the spoils the right result. Lazio set out to counter us and immediately took the lead but they changed their approach thereafter and we got level. A first half injury to our best defender didn't help and when Lazio took the lead again in the 84th minute I feared the worst but thankfully substitute Aubameyang got us the point that we deserved in injury time.

It's a game we were looking to win but Lazio are a strong side and on their day can cause anyone a problem. The main positive we can take is that we didn't lose again on the back of our midweek cup exit.

Christensen will miss our trip to Leverkusen so we'll need to shuffle the pack for that one.

    League Game 5 -

    Bayer Leverkusen 0 Barcelona 4

The home side had tactical advantage quite a few times during the course of the game and there's no question the score line is extremely harsh on them. We merited the win but certainly not by that margin.

Defender Berchiche with another double and at this early stage of the season he finds himself as our top scorer. However it was back up midfielder Drexler who was the real star of the show. He only started due to Christensen being suspended but helped himself to 3 assists and a MOTM performance.

Next up a trip to Manchester to face City in the Champions League and it'll be a real privilege to lock horns with the absolute GOAT of FFO managers.

    League Game 6 -

Barcelona 0 Paris Saint Germain 0

We lost narrowly to PSG's ultra negative 7 man defensive counter attacking approach in the cup so we weren't falling into that trap again and matched their C tactic but with a 42112 set up.

It was actually a reasonable game for a goalless draw with a good few chances and unquestionably the draw was the right outcome. It's not a brilliant result for us but it's far from a disaster against a team that probably only 2 or 3 of our players would get into.

It's been an interesting start to the league season with a couple of surprise packages leading the way and we're content enough with how we've performed in our first 6 games.

    League Game 7 -

    Real Sociedad 0 Barcelona 4

A good performance away to a side who have started the season well. We set up to pass knowing we’d probably get countered but hoping that having superior players would make the difference and no doubt that was the case.

Pleased to see all of our front 3 amongst the goals but the main thing was the 3 points as we try to keep track with the teams above. We’ve had a pretty kind start to the season in terms of who we’ve played but that is about to change from this point on.

All the best for the rest of the season Freddie

    League Game 8 -

    Barcelona 4 Real Madrid 5

The closeness of the final score doesn’t reflect the dominance that Madrid had, we rattled in 3 late goals to make it look more respectable but we were well beaten.

In fairness I’m abroad at the moment and my last 3 sheets have just been resubmitted as I don’t have time or access to do one properly. I would probably have played C as we did against PSG recently but that’s on me.

Home tonight so no excuses for tomorrow’s game.

    League Game 9 -

Red Bull Leipzig 1 Barcelona 2

We fell behind immediately but didn't panic and were level soon after. Thereafter it was an even game that genuinely could have gone either way but with both sides switching to attacking late on it was our prolific defender Berchiche who struck in the 90th minute to snatch us a fortunate win (even if some managers would say we deserved it as we won the 'shot count')

Very hard luck on the home side who worked our GK on several occasions and I certainly wouldn't have begrudged them a share of the spoils but we're extremely grateful for the 3 points particularly with a horror run of games coming against 4 sides in the top 8.

A few of our players are attracting attention elsewhere so we have a few decisions to make. We've been a bit quieter in the transfer market of late but the temptation is always there...

    Unlucky Matty - sorry mate

    League Game 10 -

    Barcelona 0
    Roma 2

Abject performance from us in all honesty. Got suckered into setting up negatively and playing for tactical bonus but even with all that we failed miserably and just couldn't cope with their attacking threat. Roma came with far more intent and got their reward.

Very disappointing display from us. We've shown in the last 7 days with home defeats to Madrid and Roma that we are still some way off the better sides.

Anyway, Milan have already all but clinched the title so who really cares?

    Played Derek, well deserved.

    League Game 11 -

    AC Milan 1 Barcelona 2

After our timid display against Roma we were desperate to get back on track but Milan have been nothing short of sensational so far this season so we knew it was going to be extremely difficult.

We started with our 4 new signings from Celtic but it was Milan who went ahead just before half time making a difficult task even harder. Thankfully Jesus got us back on level terms very quickly and after some subbies from both sides during the 2nd half it was Matip that fired us to a brilliant 3 points, spoiled only at the death by a red card for our captain Mahrez.

He'll miss our Champions League trip to Arsenal along with Matip whose injury time booking also proved costly. Fair to say our options are going to be very limited for the Emirates but we'll see what we can do.

Good game Jase, it was a closer game than you're portraying. Unbelievable job at Milan so far showing everyone what a capable manager you are. All the best for the rest of the season, hope you keep it going it's good to see other faces up there challenging.

    League Game 12 -

    Barcelona 1
    Sporting Lisbon 1

Stupid from me really, we knew exactly what to expect so having set up well and got an early lead to then change tactic was daft on my part. Lisbon more than merited their point and we're probably fortunate we didn't lose, especially after we went down to ten men later on.

A missed opportunity when we look at the other results at the top end of the table but when you do stupid things you get what you deserve. One point from our last 3 home games is a recipe for failure.

Another tough game next with a trip to an improving Juventus. No Van de Ven for us and I'm already thinking of moving on this real life Spurs donkey.

    League Game 13 -

    Juventus 2 Barcelona 0

We were well beaten here in all honesty. Juve set up 52003C and did a job on us and our usual passing approach. Tough to win away to strong opposition in these circumstances.

We've started to unravel a bit and clearly rolling out P every game isn't cutting the mustard. We're going to have to start being a lot more creative to arrest the slide.

Back to full strength for our must win Champions League clash with Arsenal and only a much improved performance by both manager and players will do.

    Played AB, well deserved mate

    League Game 14 -

    Dortmund 1 Barcelona 2

To say we were in need of a win is a bit of an understatement following a run of really poor results. In truth it was a very even game and Dortmund will feel hard done by at not coming away with a draw. They had quickly cancelled out Berchiche's opener but fortunately for us Fernandez got himself on the scoresheet with 15 mins to go to get us a much needed 3 points.

Resources are stretched to the max for our next game (a visit from Celtic) with Matip still suspended and Malinovski picking up an injury which will see him sit out our next 2 fixtures. Drexler and Aubameyang will be called into action but we have confidence in the pair of them so no excuses if we don't get the result we are looking for.

We've a new face arriving this week following a deal with Atletico and there's another couple of potential arrivals in the pipeline as we look to try and get some consistency into our performances.

    League Game 15 -

    Barcelona 3
    Celtic 0

P v C again but unlike some other games when we've faced the counter attacking approach we performed well, created lots of chances and came away with a great result.

Next up we play the other half of Glasgow as we visit Ibrox. Surprised to see Rangers sitting bottom, they're a side we've always struggled against. I expect them to start moving up the table but hopefully they don't kick start their season at our expense.

We get Matip back for that one but Malinovskyi misses out again.

Played Sam, all the best mate.

    League Game 16 -

    Rangers 1 Barcelona 0

We deserved to lose this one and we can't complain as we merrily churn out the P tactic whilst constantly being countered with C. Mind you we did have a 50 min spell of L v P in our favour but even at that we created very little so that's disappointing.

Another injury and ironically it's to Sutalo who was part of the now infamous Anguissa (no) deal so I guess some will say that's a bit of karma. I'm hearing through the grapevine that there are calls for us to be fined significantly (for attempting to do a deal that wouldn't have broken any rules). Honestly some people need to get out more often.

Anyway congrats to Rangers in this one.

    League Game 17 -

    Barcelona 2
    Bayern Munich 1

Must admit I was expecting to face a 51031C set up here but decided to stick with 523P given who we had available as I still feel it gives us our best chance of success. As it is JB also played P and we quickly led through Jesus who has been off the boil of late. Despite creating the better chances it was later on until we extended our lead but Bayern then got one back in the 83rd minute and that made for an uncomfortable final few minutes viewing. We held on for a much needed 3 points after our feeble defeat at Ibrox last week.

Our next 2 matches are away to Inter. First up is the Champions League and it's win or bust for both of us so we're going to have to produce one of our best displays of the season. Even a win doesn't guarantee anything for us because of the mess we've made of our first 4 fixtures in the competition but it would be nice to finish the group stage strongly irrespective of whether we qualify or not.

Don't think GS will be rolling out the welcome mat given his recent media which probably suits all parties just fine.
