    Ajax Amsterdam 2-2 Lyon

Lyon went into this match on the back of 2 draws and with new manager Matt Cuthbertson overseeing his first game in the dugout since taking charge. Les Gones opted for a standard 4-4-2 formation for this game to try and nullify their opposition and get a result from the game. It was a plan that was working until the 47th minute and into first half stoppage time, when Ajax went more attacking and B_vd_Boomen gave the home side a half time lead. Cuthbertson had an opportunity to regroup his side and offer some words of encouragement and the visitors came out in quick fashion in the second half, and were level just 2 minutes after the restart, with a set piece delivery from C_Mata falling to Lacazette who drove home. Ajax retook the lead in the 63rd minute when the impressive B_vd_Boomen this time turned provider for I_Paixao to fire home. And it was a goal that looked destined to be the winner in this game, right up until the 84th minute, when Lacazette once again stepped up to earn the visitors a vital point to take back to Lyon.

Manager Matt Cuthbertson was pleased with his sides performance:-

"It's never easy in the first game coming away from home against very good opposition in Ajax so it was always going to be a challenge for us today. It will take time to get to know the group and for them to bed into our systems, but we've shown fantastic determination and character today to come back from behind twice in the game so we are very pleased to be able to pick up a point on the road. Hopefully its the first of many for us as we look to use this as a platform to improve over the rest of the season."

    Lyon 2-0 Rennes

Lyon returned home following the 2-2 draw with Ajax with a 'bottom of the table' clash with fellow ROE2 strugglers Rennes in Matt Cuthbertson's first game in charge at Groupama Stadium. The hosts welcomed back E_Nuamah to the starting lineup after missing the Ajax match with Injury, however were without the injured C_Tolisso who is still expected to miss the next 2 matches. The visitors got off to a bright start, controlling the early chances however Lyon grew into the game and started to exert some pressure of their own. This paid dividends in the 39th minute, when S_Alvero fed through A_Lacazette who fired home for his 4th goal of the season, and 3rd already in Cuthbertson's 2 games as manager. Lyon wrapped up the 3 points in the 55th minute when A_M_Niles, who came into the side to replace the injured Tolisso grabbed his first goal of the season to seal an important three points, and a victorious start to the new managers reign.

Manager Matt Cuthbertson was pleased to get off to a winning start at Groupama Stadium:-

"I'm delighted to get off with a win in my first home game here, and to keep a clean sheet aswell is really pleasing. It was massive that we showed our intent and the way that we want to do things, we want to give the supporters something to cheer and be optimistic about and I think we have done that today. It was a controlled performance from the whole team, we created some good chances and scored 2 good goals."
