Tactically we were outplayed for large parts of this game and probably the only thing in our favour was the advantage the superb home crowd support brings. Ajax can feel rightly frustrated as they were the better side, but the yellow submarine had other ideas and plundered all three points with a goal from the last kick of the game. Santi Comesana's brace of goals was the difference between the two sides and he rightly picked up the MotM award on the final whistle.

Unlucky Mati, I'm sure you'll be there or thereabouts at the top as the season progresses.

Next game sees the yellow submarine travel to fellow Spanish side Real Sociedad in the EFL Cup which will prove to be a stern test for the EFL2 newcomers.

Difficult game for the yellow submarine against fellow Spanish side Real Sociedad. Villarreal never really looked to worry the hosts and two needless early yellow cards did nothing to settle the visitors nerves. Overall not a million miles off, but there was a definite difference in quality and playing away from home definitely made things harder for Villarreal.
