  • Salzburg looks fantastic...for three minutes.

For a brief shining moment, RB Salzburg looked like they were poised to make some noise in the pre-season cup. Fernando released a cannon shot that confused A_Ramsdale and put RBS into the opening lead. And as they say on Spongebob, “Two Minutes Later….”, Wolves made quick change in tactics and evened the score. Ramsdale pulled hamstring 1 minute later. Another minute later Capaldo brought Wolves Tielman down in the area. Red Card, PK, and it was uphill the rest of the way with RBS. Foul after foul, Yellow after Yellow, wide shots after wide shots. RBS. Wolves increased the lead to two in the 27th minute and promptly set up wall that RBS could not breach. Both Wolves Veron and Salzburgs Nene also collected a red ticket and the match was over.

RBS had both shooting and passing deficiencies and their posession percentage was miniscule 42 percent. Manager Dave Thacker looked grim and he discussed the match. “We started well, but we cannot give possession away that much time. I realize we were playing an upper division team and I’m proud that the men never quit. We’ll learn for this and get ready for tomorrow.” RBS insiders are dreading the match against the Ranger tomorrow with two players suspended. RBS is thin on forwards, and tomorrow may be ugly.
