  • Millwall Match Reports - Season 5

Windebank Schools Lippy Hopton In His Own Backyard

    Ipswich Town 0 Millwall 3

He sat in his bed full of confidence deciding what players and tactics to use to smash a Club he dismissed as shite. With his chest puffed out full of confidence he spouted words he believed on social media, he was brave he was bold he is Jason Hopton.

He walked down the touchline pumping his fists as the tractor boys embraced the Wolfsburg manager in his first game in charge.

Within a minute you could only hear the travelling Millwall army as the Tractor Boys fell silent. Aidomo Emakhu went on a dribble easily went past Tuanzebe and with the outside of his left boot scored his and Millwall's first goal of the season.

In the 17th minute debutant Moussa Diaby went through an hole in Hopton's defence and a thunderous shot sent the Millwall faithful wild as the Lions doubled their lead.

Millwall were taking the piss and Hopton looked crestfallen as Kabadayi backed heeled the ball to Rasmus Hojlund who easily lobbed Patterson in the Ipswich goal to make the score an embarrassing 3-0.

Windebank shut up shop and Hopton's pre match puffed out chest was replaced with a numb look as the Millwall fans chanted "your fucking shit, your fucking shit, your fucking shit your fucking shit your fucking shit."

    Windebank said

What a great performance today, Rome Jayden had a great game in goal and all eleven players played out their skin with Thiago rating up and Stenman nearly doing so as well.

Emakhu is off the mark with Diaby and Hojlund also hitting the net I could not be happier.

Hopton talked a good game its a shame his players could not replicate that arrogance on the pitch. It will be interesting to see if his main team can perform better at Leipzig where we go head to head against my other shite team.

Lions Eat Ox's At Kassam Stadium

    Oxford United 0 Millwall 3

Millwall are in the hat for the FA Cup 2nd round and are set to receive a much welcomed additional £2.5m and hopefully a chance to get fringe players some minutes.

Millwall rested Esse and placed Kadabayi on the bench, and got Simpson his minutes as well working towards Cardy's minutes. Sanderson was meant to replace Simpson on 45 minutes but the form was filled out incorrectly and Windebank apologised straight away after the match to Ray Wallace as Thiago Silve was accidently subbed instead of Simpson. In another error Kabadayi was brought on for Cardy instead of Rossiter which would have meant Rossiter would have started working towards his contractual minutes.

Mistakes aside this was another routine win for the Lions with the home side not registering a single shot on target.

Rasmus Hojlund got his 2nd goal in two games in the 15th minute, with Thiago Silva scoring a sensational first goal for the Club too make the score 2-0 with just 37 minutes on the clock.

The game was wrapped up just before the half time whistle when Cardy flicked the ball to Enzo Fernandez who scored a sensational goal for his first goal in a Millwall shirt to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.

Millwall shut up shop and the 2nd half became a non event and Millwall find themselves in the hat for the 2nd round draw.

    Windebank Post Match Comments

I am very happy with the result and performance but very disappointed with the mistakes made with the substitutions. Not only did we let Ray Wallace down but we also missed the opportunity to get some much needed minutes into our fringe players.

We are hoping for a home draw in the 2nd round and hopefully a League 1 side as we really want to be in the 3rd draw when the big boys enter the competition.

But football is a funny game and for some reason I have a feeling we will be playing the FFO Godfather's Norwich City
