Yet more lazy media from the red half of Merseyside with the following post match reactions provided by our manager Graeme Edwards on further league and cup games throughout the month of October -

Premier League week twenty seven -

    Man Utd 0 Liverpool 6

A remarkable score line away to such a good side but it's only a couple of weeks ago that we were on the end of a 6-0 reversal at Southampton so we know only too well that these crazy outcomes occur from time to time. To be fair we did play very well but as I say the final score is a bit of a joke so we certainly won't be getting carried away just as we didn't when we lost by the same margin.

Very pleased with the performance more than anything and particularly the amount of chances we created. We played a formation we haven't tried this season and we looked solid and then the introduction of Mudryk in the 2nd half when the home side started chasing the game really looked to make a big difference as the goals started to flow at that point.

If we'd have lost I'd have been questioning our title credentials so on the back of this result I have to have confidence that we are right up there on merit. Some big big games coming up for us in all 3 competitions so exciting times for the club. We have to try and push on and take the opportunity to bring some silverware to the club as that is ultimately what it's all about.

Sore one for you Steve but as I say we've been there ourselves recently and I've no doubt you'll bounce back just as quickly.

DPT semi final 1st leg -

    Rangers 1 Liverpool 2

Would love to be able to tell you what my post match reaction was in this one but looks like someone has already been deleting things so I can't.

Premier League week twenty eight -

    Liverpool 2 Everton 1

Had bad vibes about this one for some reason. We've been going well and Everton haven't and I expected us to be countered which we were and I just had a feeling we might get tripped up but thankfully we managed to squeeze over the line and we certainly deserved to.

Rodri and Rashford with the goals early in the 2nd half although we had a nervous last 20 after they pulled one back. A good derby win to keep us level on points with City who as expected made light work of the Spice Girls. Leeds won again too though and you wouldn't count Man Utd and Spurs out either.

Extremely tough fixtures for us next week with Arsenal and Man City to play. With games rapidly running out the outcome of these fixtures certainly take on added significance.

Premier League week twenty nine -

    Arsenal 2 Liverpool 0

Tough fixture away to a full strength Arsenal and no real shock to come away with nothing to show for our efforts.

In truth we were probably a bit unlucky as the stats were very close but even with the tactical bonus we conceded twice, the 2nd when Arsenal had switched to D which is always a bit annoying.

A defeat which sees us drop 3 points off top spot and our home clash against leaders Man City on Friday really is a must not lose if we want to stay in the title picture.

Before that though yet another big game as we play Rangers at home in the DPT semi final 2nd leg. The Gers defeated EFL1 table toppers Juventus last night which is a further illustration of how tough a task it is. The absence of Akanji doesn't help matters.

Anyway well played Darren, always tough against you.

DPT semi final leg two -

    Liverpool 1 Rangers 0 (3-1 aggregate score)

Both sides lined up identically (5122P) and although we dominated the stats it wasn't until injury time when our veteran defender Chuhrynskyi popped one in that we were finally able to relax. Delighted to progress through a tricky tie albeit in fairly unspectacular fashion.

Reaching a 2nd Cup Final of the season is big for us as we have several players in their early to mid thirties who we are gradually going to have to start replacing so every extra few quid we have will help for the transfer bonanza.

And so it's Atletico standing between us and the trophy. An excellent manager and a very strong side but I wouldn't expect anything else in a European final. I would love to win this competition not so much for the glory but because it's in honour of one of FFO's finest in Dave Phillips. He was a huge loss to the game and one of the best there has been.

    Premier League week thirty -

    Liverpool 4 Man City 1

Going into the game we knew that a defeat would put us 6 points behind and realistically end our title chances. We set up in the same way that brought us victories over City in our previous 2 games against them this season and we put in another strong performance to come away with a vital win. 4-1 probably flatters us but we were definitely good value for the win and it puts us level on points with both City and Leeds, albeit with a vastly inferior goal difference, with Man Utd and Arsenal still right in the mix too.

Unfortunately we've lost our youth player to a 3 game injury but we have Coquelin on loan for one final week which will soften that blow. There's a temptation to try and do some deals with the transfer window closing next week but these players are doing well and I'm scared to upset the apple cart too much.

Huge 10 games coming up for us from now to the end of the season between league fixtures and cup finals. The challenges are coming thick and fast so time for everyone connected to the club to strap in and enjoy the ride.

Premier League week thirty one -

    Cardiff City 0 Liverpool 5

As dominant an away performance as we could ever hope for really. Saw the defensive counter attack approach from Cardiff coming and started with an E tactic that has really served us well this season and Rashford scored early. We were 2-0 up midway through the 1st half when Cardiff had the misfortune to have their best defender sent off and we capitalised with 3 further goals and looking at the stats it was pretty much deserved.

Cardiff stole a point from us at Anfield earlier in the season so it was good to avenge that. Talking of avenging things next up it's Leicester at home who thumped us 4-0 at their gaff in the first round of games so that's certainly something we'd like to try and put right. We've 2 players out which doesn't help but we've suddenly found ourselves top of the table with only 7 games remaining so if we are serious about winning the title this is a game that we have to find a way to get the 3 points from.

Premier League week thirty two -

    Liverpool 3 Leicester City 2

The score line is a lot closer than it should have been given our dominance but we're at the stage of the season where the 3 points is really all that matters. We gambled a bit by splitting time for a 16 and 15 rater so maybe that had something to do with it - although ironically the 15 rater netted our 3rd which ultimately proved to be the decisive goal.

Mudryk, certainly recently, has been our main man and he scored again during another man of the match performance. We've had a couple of enquiries about him but would prefer to keep him if possible although ultimately everyone has their price.

Next up a very difficult looking trip to White Hart Lane or whatever it's called these days. Tim has had an excellent first campaign there and defeated us at Anfield earlier in the season. Leeds and Arsenal amongst others are breathing down our necks so we have to come away with something. Every game at this stage is absolutely vital so hopefully we are at our best - we'll need to be.

Premier League week thirty three -

    Tottenham 2 Liverpool 0

I knew this would be a tough game and so it proved. Was fairly sure Spurs would play C as they did against us earlier in the season and in hindsight giving up tactical bonus probably was too much for us to cope with. We've had some really positive results and performances playing E but yet I still lack confidence in playing it especially away from home.

Anyway stats wise it was a tight affair but we've no issues with the defeat - the only bonus is that Leeds lost too although Arsenal dug out a win and are really only a charge. You can't really count out Man Utd either - they are more than capable of winning their last 5.

We're finally back to full strength and need to bounce back against Burnley. It's in our own hands with 5 games remaining and that's all you can really ask for I guess.

    Played Tim.

Premier League week thirty four -

    Liverpool 2 Burnley 3

Not a good time to suffer back to back losses as we slip from top spot and give hope to a whole host of other clubs into the bargain. In truth we played pretty well in this one, created loads of chances but it was just one of those days when Burnley did more with less and were more clinical than us. A tough loss to stomach especially at this stage of the season but we've lost umpteen matches in a similar vein throughout the campaign. In truth losing 11 games out of 34 really isn't league winning form and in other seasons I'm sure we would be miles off the pace.

Have left ourselves with absolutely no room for error from here on in that's for sure. Still all to play for but unquestionably this result could end up proving very costly.

Premier League week thirty five -

    Watford 0 Liverpool 4

A no show from the Watford manager gifting us 3 points in the process which is unsatisfactory at the best of times but even more so at this vital stage of the season. Certainly not our fault and there have been a few T sheets in the Prem this season that other clubs have benefitted from....but yeah not good at all.

We have 2 home games next before our trip to Leeds and if we want to win the league then absolutely nothing less than 6 points will do

Premier League week thirty six -

    Liverpool 0 West Ham 0

The Hammers are in a precarious position in the table and rolled out the dreaded D from the off and we just weren't good enough to break it down. We stuck with the passing approach which failed in our previous home game against Burnley and obviously that's on me. It's been the story in so many of our home games and at this stage of the season I probably should have played with more ambition as the 3 points were absolutely vital.

The draw does keep us top by a point but my gut feeling is we've probably blown it over the past few games. We don't look like winning our final two games and I think we'll need to do just that.

We've umpteen players walking a suspension tightrope too which is a major concern with so many big games coming up but we can't afford to be resting anyone so we just have to hope we get lucky.

4 games from the treble or alternatively 4 games from it all going completely Pete Tong.

Premier League week thirty seven -

    Liverpool 1 Sheffield Wed 0

A vital win to keep us just ahead of Arsenal and Spurs as we finally managed to see off a defensive Sheffield Wednesday. We were creating plenty with a passing approach but couldn't find a way through even when the opposition lost their starting GK at the beginning of the 2nd half. We switched things up to all out attack in the 65th minute and thankfully Grealish fired in a 72nd minute winner. Marshy is a connoisseur when it comes to shot counts and I'm sure he won't feel hard done by at losing to a 16-3 deficit.

No doubt the 2nd half injury to their GK helped us but we've effectively played 7 full games this season without our starting keeper so forgive me for not feeling overly sorry.

And so it's a final day shoot out between us and the 2 best sides from London - Arsenal and Spurs - for the title. Realistically it looks between us and Arsenal. I fully expect them to defeat West Ham so we're going to have to go to a full strength Leeds and win which is not going to be easy in the slightest.

An intense final day to cap off a crazy Premier League season.

Premier League week thirty eight -

    Leeds 3 Liverpool 0

Oh dear, our very own Devon Loch moment (the younger ones will have to Google that).

Felt sure we would have to win this one but as it turns out a 1-0 defeat would have been sufficient. Got my tactics etc all wrong initially and we found ourselves 2-0 down. For the last hour though we created chances galore and really should have scored a few but as is often the case with us we couldn’t find the back of the net. We end up losing the title by the narrowest of margins on goal difference.

But I don’t want to make this sound like a hard luck story, the table doesn’t lie after 38 games and Spurs are absolutely worthy champions. To go to Leicester on the final day and stick 6 past them is remarkable and they deserve all the plaudits. What a job Tim has done there and all credit to him.

We have 2 cup finals to play so as sore as this one is we need to refocus quickly.

Thanks to JB for his immaculate running of the league and to all the other managers in the Prem for making this season such an incredible one. I’d become bored of the game in EFL1 but even with this last game slap in the face it’s been an absolute pleasure to be a part of this league this season.
