  • The Busy Work Roster Management System

Managing the bottom of a club's roster is nothing but an unnecessary exercise in busy work for everyone involved. The whole point of minutes was to stop teams from hoarding the best players. However, it really only impacts players 17-23 on any given roster because every season a manager is either forced to play a bunch of backup-level players who shouldn't be starting over first-teamers when healthy or jump through a bunch of hoops to fill our roster because said players leave since they didn't meet their minutes. Then comes the next season and you rinse and repeat.

Case in point, I have a 16 rated player who is a minutes target of 760. There doesn't seem to be a team in FFO that would give a 16-rater anywhere close to that amount without potentially inflicting harm on their results. Hell, the only reason the BHN list exists is to fill rosters. Yet these guys are all coming in demanding minutes despite the fact those not picked up wouldn't have a job. I just don't get it.

    This system is flawed.

Interestingly worded article. Perhaps BHN players could come in with 0 minutes.

Or maybe the 16/17r should ask less minutes so they could be counted as squaddie or suns

I get it but at the same time, in reply to “Yet these guys are all coming in demanding minutes despite the fact those not picked up wouldn't have a job. I just don't get it.”

how many players join a club IRL under the conditions of we want you but you won’t play. Players sign for a club expecting to play do they not?

Swings and roundabouts, and priorities I suppose.
I personally think a mandatory 23 is too many in the first place and that’s where it should be looked into

Ditch minutes altogether. Wages are severe enough to stop hoarding. Few seasons ago there was talk of increased aggression and teams needing depth. Some went out and did it only for they're to be u turn. Roll on tne long term Road map so we have some certainly

I agree, scrap minutes. Who hoards players now? Not even Ed because they’ll fall behind the pace. It just creates unnecessary headaches for managers and then when people are looking for 5-6+ players come eos every year they’ll soon get fed up of using their prize money to just get the numbers back up. Potentially why they quit.

I’ve never been a fan of minutes for the squaddies, agree with this.

I agree with Ed and AB, scrap minutes and bring in fitness.

I fully support JB on this. I believe that the minutes system and fitness are perfect, as much, they should be slightly adjusted, but don't find it wrong. It forces people to actually do time management as well.

I only have to play those squaddiesfor 90 minutes, but getting way more than SHN prices when they sell. Works for me.
