The EFL2 Whip Around-Lucky Round 7 Edition
…..Five round later. The fog is beginning to lift on some of the EFL2 clubs. A group has broken slightly ahead of the pack, another pack is sinking into quicksand, and there’s bedlam in the middle. Lets break it down
Can’t be beat!!: Valencia (5-2-0) and Marseilles (4-3-0) have yet to show the big L in their form chart. Their the top two in the table however….
FCP doesn’t know how to draw: Porto is level with Marseilles on points by virtue of their five wins out of seven matches. They are not pumping out goals like some other clubs, but they are keeping pace at the top.
It’s crowded in the middle: Eleven clubs are separated by 3 point, and while that’s not unusual, some clubs are already showing some danger signs. Union Berlin has an ugly goal differential and will drop at the bottom of any layer they land on. Ajax is on a two match loss streak. Atalanta and Rennes haven’t win for two rounds.
Hanging by a thread: Real Betis, Salzburg, PSV and Lyon are trying to stay out of the cellar, but only Betis is showing signs of life. The rest look like they are in for another long season.
Can't Win, Won't Win: Schalke and Sparta and really struggling and have no wins in the current form chart. Hang in there gents, it can only get better from here.
I’m not staying here: It’s always interesting to see what happens to a relegated team. Will they fight back? Get Better? Claw back to EFL1? Or will they lost momentum and book an extended stay in EFL2. It looks like Marseille and Liepzig have no intention to stick around. Real Sociedad looks a bit rudderless right now. The are 11th of the table and they may be EFL2 chums for awhile.
