Dark mutterings from the locker room are reaching Salzburg supporters. Apparently 24 year old Fernando is bitter about his role under manager Dave Thacker. Fernando has only appeared in five games, one of those these in a substitute role. When we caught up with Fernando earlier this week he had a few choice words about Salzburg’s status and his role in it. “I’ve been fit and ready to go for the entire season”, the Brazil native said. “We seem to have the obsession with 2 players in front, and there has been no room for me! Even we when down the tubes in the middle of the season there was now thought to change the from line. I have skills that are not being used and Koita and Nene could use a break!” It’s true that S_Koita and D_Nene have started all 27 games of the current campaign. Fernando has been used lightly as a attacking midfielder, but has not been starting at the top. When asked about this tactic, Thacker grudgingly admitted Fernando has a point. “We have spent a lot of time getting the defense right, especially after opponents ran up so many goals against us. I think we’ve stabilized the defense, and we’re using the final third of the season what we can do the turn up the scoring. Fernando will be in the mix. I think he’ll happy with minutes he’ll get the rest of the season.”
Another unhappy team member has been midfielder C_Furich. “I know I can help this team out. It’s hard to stay in sync with my team mates when I don’t see the pitch much.” Furich has only had four appearances and only one of those was a start. Manager Thacker counsels patience. “We’ve got a bigger role planned for a player with Furich’s skill, but we need to time to work him in. Furich may not buy what the manager is selling. “It’s hard to where I’m going to be at the end of season. If I need to find another spot to get minutes, I’m prepared to do that.” Not a ringing endorsement for the current manager. Are changes in store?
