  • Bradwell: “Leaving at the end of the season isn’t off the table”

With it looking like Athletic Club maybe welcomed back into the FFO structure at eos, which is still awaiting an official announcement from the FFO FA, Bradwell spoke to the media last night In which was the first time Bradwell addressed the media since the talk of Athletic Club potentially returning was first broke, Bradwell when asked said “I love the Basque country and its traditions, its something that the community rally round and take such pride in it makes them an extremely passionate set of fans, they will always hold a place inside me for the time I spent there, a decision hasn’t been made on anything yet, to be honest im not sure il still be a manager in world football when the decision comes to be made, everyone comes to a time where they feel the end is near and ive struggled to shake that feeling for a year now. Ive been in this world for a long time and it takes its toll, ive got a lot going on in my personal life and even more to come and if the balance doesn’t feel right, its time to give this up.”

There has been a lot of speculation in the media about rule breaks, in regards to a deal between Barcelona and Celtic, a deal that would have seen Anguissa return to the Catalan club, this deal was stopped by the FFO FA as it looked like certain managers would then abuse the system to bring the game into disrepute, Bradwell said “Yeah im not really interested in that whole scenario, we were told the deal in that structure was possible, we moved to do it, people highlighted problems, we were spoke to by the FFO FA, it made sense, it got cancelled, its pretty simple, im not interested in getting involved on either side, I think unfortunately its showed a lot of true colours of some people and that’s all im going to say on the matter.”

The community, probably one of the strongest adverts for the world of FFO is different nowadays says Bradwell, who went on to say, “We are in a very dark place at the moment, ive never really seen it so divided, you’ve got people acting in the shadows one way and putting on a front in the light the other way, it’s a shame, it used to be a community that had good banter but showed respect, a lot of that respect has disappeared, it’s a new world order which means if you shout rubbish long enough and do it repeatedly it apparently becomes fact, then people align with whichever fits their own narrative best, the culture is like this everywhere now and its something I deal with a lot, im not sure im interested in keeping space for another part of it”

On possible solutions Bradwell said “Im not sure there is one, FFO has grown into this beast where people care far too much about it that theyd go to a low place to achieve a narrative, I think what used to be a getaway has now become another battleground, the FFO FA have a tough job, they want to keep any and all managers as best as they can to keep manager numbers up, unfortunately we have too much poisoning the well at this point and something does need to change for its survival, I don’t have the time to offer this game like I used to, im personally hanging by a thread and whats transpiring currently only makes staying an even tougher choice, unfortunately im not the only one.”
