  • EFL chance counter

8 games into the season and the Atletico Madrid club statistician is at it again this time looking at the number of chances each side has created so far this season. Unsurprisingly Real Madrid, Roma and PSG are again at the top of the league. Worrying for the leagues competiveness when Real Madrid outshoot Napoli by over three times as many.

Atletico Madrid currently sit in 07th place.

Manager Simon Marsh commented "We are in touch with all the teams bar those pesky top-three who are just on another level to the rest. Our issue though is not converting enough of these chances. Barcelona have 25 goals from their 144 chances. We have 12 from our 133. Our shooting has been poor and without Vinicius 10 goals we would be bottom of the league. With the risk of copying Troy Deeney, our new striker Muani has scored 1 goal from 41 chances. Its ridiculous. Our defence isnt as clinical as other sides, and nor is our midfield. The only position we can match other sides is our goalkeeper in 0 goals from 0 shots".

Real Madrid have the best conversion rate in the league, with Barcelona just behind.
Dortmund have the worst conversion rate in the league with Celtic and Leipzig not far behind.

Atletico this week have spent extra time on their shooting with club legend Fernando Torres having taken some training sessions. Torres scored 129 goals for the club sitting third in the all-time goalscorers list.

We tried to catch up with AC Milan manager Jason Hopton, prior to their game with Atletico Madrid tonight, for his thoughts on the recent numbers provided by Simon Marshy.

Reporter: “It looks like Marshy has you down as a team that don’t concede many goals, through pure luck and also don’t create many chances, what are your thoughts on this?”

Hopton: “I refuse to get drawn into any of these mind games by Simon, posting all this nonsense right before our game just to try and put us off. We are top for a reason, we played tight football and score more goals than the opposition. I’ll let our football do the talking and not dig into all the made up bullshit that Simon comments on.

I didn’t see how speaking about any of these so called “stats” when Atletico were doing well, just a complete sore loser………”

Hopton continued to ramble on as he headed towards the team hovercraft. Convinced he was unaffected by any of these statements by Marshy, but refusing to stop talking about them.

Rumours are he was still talking about them as he arrived at the San Siro, prior to tonight’s game
