The inclusion for playing time requirements for fringe players or squaddies as they tend to be known is an interesting one. With a chunk of the season played it is a rule change that has been either ignored or put on the shelf by many managers as they play their strongest sides throughout. At some point managers will have to "play their jokers" or risk starting next season on 16-17 players with a huge financial requirement required to get back to the minimum squad size. We take a look at the Premier League to ascertain just what each club has done so far
Arsenal - a very small start at attaining minutes on a 13 & 14 rater.
Aston Villa - have made some good strides forwards with plenty having had game time.
Barnsley - small start at attaining minutes on a 12 & 14 rater.
Blackburn Rovers - working hard of a 15-rater.
Brighton & Hove Albion - barely anything done.
Burnley - made a decent start
Chelsea - done absolutely nothing
Crystal Palace - worked hard on a 14-rater only
Everton - Worked hard on a 15-rater
Leeds United - Good progress on a 15-rater
Liverpool - taking it serious
Man City - not a lot of action, perhaps they will buy their minutes
Man United - making good progress
Newcastle United - done nothing and have 17-raters not playing.
Sheffield United - too many minutes on one player only.
Sheffield Wednesday - made a decent start
Southampton - a small start from the south coast
Tottenham Hotspur - a decent start from the London club
West Ham United - a good start from the Irons
Wolverhampton Wanderers - small start only from the midlands.
Quite a varied approach made to date with a few sides falling behind or possibly not even aware of the rule in Chelseas' case.
