  • Hollis is no winner

In a shocking series of events at the Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, the manager revolving door seems to have ended with the club moving swiftly to appoint former Rennes head coach Cheyenne Hollis as their new manager ahead of a new campaign.

Lisbon HAD replaced fan favourite Gary Windebank with the former Barnsley manager, Anthony 'Rolf' Harris, however in what now seems to be a trend for Harris, he quit the club earlier this week for a second time in a month.

The first time Harris resigned was at Barnsley as he threw his toys out of the pram after failing to secure the AC Milan position. This time he claims that he doesn't have time to be a football manager right now.

Back to Hollis, who was in the running for the Lisbon job back in November but missed out due to the club wanting to make a decision immediately, who returns to football management after a spell away in the wilderness.

He's already ruffled the feathers of Inter Milan manager Gary Wilson and now continues to do the same as he makes his move to a top flight club once again.

Over the last few weeks, Hollis has made claims that he's a winner, he's here to win, that's what he does, and reminding the footballing world that he once won a treble.
Let's not forget, this treble was 29 seasons ago and since then, what has the American done? Very little.

Stints with Italian club Modena and former Premier League giants Chelsea did nothing to improve his reputation amongst the world of football before his exit a number of years ago.

It's said that Jon Banks and Tim Davey both had full heads of hair the last time that Hollis was relevant, however with his new shiny team at the ready, could the returning 'Innocent One' prove his worth in Lisbon? The squad certainly is more than capable of raising a few eyebrows but maybe Hollis has been away too long to make a real impact. Time will certainly tell.
