  • The Enchantment of FFO - A Christmas Tale

In the heart of the bustling football league known as Fantasy Football Organisation the air was abuzz with an electric fervour as the festive season approached. Christmas was near and the teams were gearing up for a brief respite from the busy schedule of matches, banter and stress, while the managers braced themselves for a momentary hiatus from the relentless demands of the league, A Grumpy, problematic bowelled Andy Banks sits alone in his office awaiting a text from a Christmas cracker (or a Grinch, he’s not that fussy), pondering how his night will go The vibrant cityscape was adorned with twinkling lights, shimmering tinsel, and the unmistakable hum of anticipation of Christmas that heralded the enchanting arrival of the holiday season as the snow began to fall and the daylight began to dim to darkness.

Amidst the preparations, Andy Banks, the Juventus manager found himself dozing off as he awaited the impending message from a yeti but suddenly found himself grappling with an unexpected visitation of the ghost of Cheyenne’s past as the haunting American appeared before his very eyes and laid out that Andy would be a lonely bitter man in a pile of his own faeces unless he changed his attitude towards not only the leagues managers but everyone, although oddly it wasn’t by means of a video message this message was sent. As he sat nestled in the comfort of his opulent manager's suite, wearing his favourite Paw Patrol pyjamas, a startled Andy put off the vision as some sort of realistic dream as he began to slip into a gentle slumber once again, transporting his consciousness into the ethereal realm of a fever dream….

Within the confines of this dreamlike tapestry, Andy was greeted by a spectral figure cloaked in the essence of the past, present, and future. As the apparition materialised before him, it took the form of a youthful manifestation of his own self, replete with the fiery passion and unbridled ambition that had defined his early days in the league although a little stouter than the Andy of today there was no mistaking the face only a mother could love. In a voice that resonated with a chorus of echoes, the apparition beckoned Andy to embark on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment, one that would reveal the intricacies of his tumultuous journey within the FFO league and the profound impact of his actions and changing attitude over the years from joyous young man to scrooge like troublemaker as he began to see his spirit leave his body as if floating through the air to view the goings on of the leagues other managers as the haunting words from the infamous PMR video of Cheyenne quietly played all around him in the now infamous slow wrestling style of PR.

In the heart of the FFO's administrative headquarters, Jon Banks, the enigmatic figurehead of the FFO FA or a poor man’s Vince McMahon sat staring with teary eyes at his favourite hairbrush a relic from years gone by wondering where time had gone, grappled with the unrelenting pressures of managing a league brimming with colourful characters, rivalries, and unbridled passions. Jon, whose affable demeanour, and unwavering commitment to the league had earned him the respect of his peers but also their venting and frustrations when the information wasn’t instant like some machine, found himself wrestling with a series of unexpected challenges that threatened to disrupt the harmonious balance within the FFO once again for the fourth time this week, or was it the 5th ?. As he delved into a pile of paperwork that seemed to multiply with each passing moment, a mischievous giggle reverberated through the confines of his office, signalling the arrival of a mischievous presence that would forever alter the course of the holiday festivities within the FFO, as it turns out it was only Jon’s Favourite Christmas elf Gary Windebank bringing special treats and hot cocoa for the two to enjoy by the bristling fire as a bemused Andy floated on past with the two managers oblivious to his Prescence.

Next came the tranquil expanse of Aston Villa's training ground, Ian Greaves, the seasoned manager known for his sage-like wisdom and sleepy joe Biden demeanour, embarked on a whimsical adventure with his faithful companion, a time-worn pet dinosaur named Squaddie who Ian has owned since a child in 80m BC. Together, Ian and Squaddie wandered through the training ground corridors, spreading the spirit of joy and merriment to the players and staff, their laughter and warmth infusing the air with goodwill as the man and dinosaur looked forward to his eighteen-hour nap after an exhausting rant at the TV in the players’ lounge because it showed a young happy managers buying zero minute squad players, the ageing manager could be heard rambling “back in my day we invented fire and now this happens, disgraceful”, Although unbeknown to Ian the training finished six hours ago and he was alone within the ground with no dinosaur as well that would just be mental, much like Ian. As Andy floats on buy the baffling experience left him in no doubt this was all just a dream and he would awake soon as the sounds of Cheyenne’s Stade Rennais announcement video now played as if filling the space around him, haunting not just Andy but everyone who had the pleasure of viewing 5 mins of dribble (much like this article)

As Andy banks continues to toss and turn, sweating buckets as Frank Moses continues to fool the FFO world that not only was he not Italian who learned English in a week but an American in need of sun cream factor SPF 50 manically laughs an once again to offer a warning to Andy that change is never too late and the next person on this wonderful journey would take us to Milan to Jason Hopton where we find the young AC Milan manager enjoying his Christmas Dinner after an exciting day of putting up his New Inter Milan calendar and autograph of Garysean Wilson on the wall.

Jason Hopton, known for his bumbling antics and love for mischievous comments that literally make no sense to anyone, stumbles upon a hidden trove of ancient Christmas relics that granted him the power to bring joy and laughter to all. With his newfound abilities, Jason embarked on a escapade, spreading laughter and cheer to all on the streets of Milan, and teaching them to embrace the spirit of light-heartedness and merriment during the holiday season, Ralph with his docile laughter and empty head could be nothing more than loveable character and a joy to all while gifting everyone in the league £19 and three easy points on his travels to bottom 8 in the league as a bewildered Inter Milan manager Garysean Wilson watches from across the street wondering if he should laughing or calling the police.

As we continue travelling through the air (of nonsense) with Andy and Cheyenne we sort of time jump straight to Manchester to cut this tale down a little (Sorry) where we find Nick Lovell, the FFO FA admin assistant and the manager of Manchester City, finding himself caught in a playful rivalry with Ed Clark, the PSG manager known for his strategic prowess and a lingering air of paranoia for all things FFO, Covid, Government, local paperboy, cats and well you get the point. As they engaged in a series of friendly competitions against each other in a battle of wits, they discovered the true joy of Christmas, setting aside their differences and sharing spreadsheets and compliments to one another while being ignored by FFO GM Jon Banks, in this moment they both found a warm embrace in their love for each other’s teams under the coldness of Jon’s shadow as Nick gleeful laughs at Eds spreadsheet and theory’s and Ed grins at Manchester City’s one billion bank balance and lack of 50% auction bids it just shows that even those so different can enjoy each other’s company. But lurking outside frozen like a snowman is Steve Talbot, the best Real Madrid manager of any FFO era, and Garysean Wilson, the Inter Milan manager (that’s all, one a league once upon a time) find themselves entangled in a series of friendly Dark Art matches that tested their abilities and challenged their preconceived notions about each other. Through their shared love for Dark Arts both found themselves sitting with a selection box of auction players who they could guess who got who and by how much, tangled into the web of FFO transfers as both found themselves on the naughty list of Jon Banks who promised punishment for all involved, except Andy, Andy gets to do what he wants natureally as the younger weaker brother.

As the holiday season drew closer, Steve Outten, the Manchester United manager, known for his diplomatic nature and loyalty to the FFO FA, emerged as the voice of reason, bridging the gaps between the two managers and FA Through his unwavering dedication to upholding the values of fairness and integrity, Steve inspired the managers to embrace the spirit of cooperation and mutual respect, setting the stage for a new era of harmony and goodwill between the Dark Arts and the FFO FA, Like a naughty Elf on a shelf no one could expect Steve on a fence as the man to settle differences as he promised the boys a Christmas Pudding….at Lunch time and not one of these fancy dinners that is found in the neverland of Yorkshire.

We will soon bid farewell to the whimsical journey that had brought them together in the deranged and perverted mind of Andy Banks dream but before we go and return to reality, we catch back up with Andy now back in his office and seemingly awake as the hum of a text message from the Grinch he’s been awaiting finally arrives.

During the lingering realisation that this dream is over and startled by the sheer nonsense of this whole story (not sorry), horror strikes as the familiar office of the Juventus manager suddenly becomes alive as the door burst open and, in stepped transfer nightmare Derek Hughes, to strike fear into the heart of Andy with a stark warning from the Roma manager known for his deceptive charm and shrewd business acumen, emerged from the dimly lit doorway, casting an enigmatic aura that drew the attention of the other managers into his trap like a snake charmed by music With his trademark swagger and silver-tongued charisma, Derek regaled Andy and Cheyenne (yep, not forgot about him) with a series of fantastic tales and wondrous anecdotes, captivating them both with his tales of grandeur and mystery that seemed to blur the lines between reality and fiction, but more fiction and an ultimate price to pay with a stark warning to Andy that unless he changes his ways, he will soon become just like him where Nightmares become reality, he trademark of the Transfer King and ex Arnold Clark, DFS,Forex, bitcoin and NFT salesman as the dream was clearly not over (I mean we gathered that by now, right ?)

As Derek continued weaving his enchaned tales, the managers found themselves drawn into a stunning world of illusion and intrigue like a budget magician captivating his audience of eight-year-olds at a birthday party, or Andy’s 30th which had a similar theme, each narrative unfolding with a twist of fate and a touch of whimsy that left them spellbound by the Roma manager's magnetic allure. With a cunning smile and a mischievous glint in his eye, Derek beckoned the audience by breaking the 4th wall to embrace the magic of the holiday season, urging them to immerse themselves in the wonder and delight that defined the timeless spirit of the FFO and enjoy themselves and to sign up for his bronze package for more of this level of content.

As the last vestiges of the ethereal dream began to dissipate this time for real (I promise), Andy Banks, the Juventus manager, slowly emerged from the depths of his slumber, the remnants of the vivid dream still lingering in the recesses of his mind. As he opened his eyes to the soft glow of dawn, he found himself enveloped in a tranquil aura that contrasted sharply with the vivid intensity of the visions that had unfolded before him, clearly missing his” date” who ghosted Andy and never arrived as Christmas morning was finally here.

With a sense of bewilderment and introspection, Andy cast his gaze upon the empty expanse of his manager's office, the haunting echoes of Cheyenne’s voice now a distant memory etched into the fabric of his consciousness, although there’s no forgetting those videos it turns out the American may never have been there at all at AC Milan and Fiorentina. As the realisation of the dream's profound impact began to sink in, Andy felt a surge of introspection and self-awareness wash over him, the lessons learned from the spectral encounter lingering in his thoughts like a persistent whisper of insight and enlightenment that made him ponder does he want to continue being the man he is and should have worn his teenage mutant ninja turtle PJs instead during his facetime with his potential mate.

With a determined resolve and a newfound sense of purpose, Andy rose from his chair, the echoes of the dream still reverberating in the corners of his mind like ringing bells. As he glanced out the window to the bustling FFO world outside, he felt a sense of renewal and optimism and newfound respect for his fellow managers as a promise of change began. Andy carried with him the enduring wisdom that if anyone made it this far into the story then they deserve a fucking medal.

    The End.

    Merry Christmas
